Okay guys, I have a 97 GST. The car was completely stock, running perfectly normal until I had the following installed: Full FMIC with complete hardpiping, Air intake/Filter (With MAF Hookup), Cat-Back Thermal Exhaust, and finally an Apexi AVCR.

After the install of all of the components the car began to run insanely rich, filing plugs, smoking heavily bogging and loading up real bad at idle (Along with getting about 8 mpg!!!). Sooo after this happens the first thing I had done was, uninstall the AVCR just knowing that had to be the problem. Its completely removed from the car and its still doing the exact same thing.

Keep in mind I have listed all and the only mods done to the vehicle, everything else is stock. I am just wondering if anything was damaged or modified by having that AVCR hooked up or what????

Please Please help, I will try anything at this point..... Do i need a fuel regulator?

Sounds like your in need of a fuel pressure regulator. Are you running stock injectors and the stock fuel pump?

Yes I am, stock injectors and Fuel Pump. Would just and exhaust, air intake, and FMIC with hardpiping make the car run that rich to require a fuel pressure reg?

Why would you say that he needs a fuel pressure regulator after installing an intake, exhaust, intercooler, and boost controller?

Absolutely not. If anything the mods that you installed should make lean it out a little. I would suspect a very large (or a lot of little) boost leaks first. Possibly a loose coupling or other leak after that FMIC and AVCR install. Do a boost leak test first to eliminate that and if you system holds pressure we can go from there.

What is the boost set at?

The AVCR has been removed, the only mods that are currently on the vehicle are FMIC, Air Intake, Cat-back Exhaust. Its running super rich, loading, dumping way too much fuel. There no check engine light. You all are suggesting the first place to start is a boost leak test??

Bingo

After that I would say to check your o2 sensor. You said this rich condition started after installing your mods, right?

Considering you just installed an FMIC. I'm betting you have some coupler leaks. Check the FMIC for holes in it too(if its used).

If you aren't finding any leaks, check the voltage of the coolant temperature sensor. A bad coolant temperature sensor can also cause you to run INSANELY rich.

You're right about the coolant temperature sensor, but I think you meant to check its resistance.

Maybe even check to make sure that the coolant temp sensor is plugged in and make sure the wire isn't broken Kevinw627.

What? ROFL

OP, a boost leak would be my guess on what's wrong, make sure everything is tightened down and also check around the BoV and make sure that there's no leaks if you can't find any around the couplers or IC.
