I just bought a 2g talon tsi. Previous owner has installed a 3" exhaust system, short ram intake, 1g blow off valve, manual boost controller, and luckily for me,, both boost and pyrometer gauges.

The car runs fine, very quick spool up, great power, doesn't seem to sputter or cut out. However,, the EGT gauge reads around 1350 on part throttle cruising, under vacuum conditions,, and cools down noticeably under boost.

From the searching and reading I have done, this indicates a lean condition at part throttle, and a seemingly safer condition under boost. At least, thats what I think it means.. Please help me understand.

Anyway, could the massively opened up intake and exhaust be causing an over lean condition?

Would it help to switch back to a stock airbox setup, and have a more restrictive (quieter) muffler installed?

Right now, I do not want to pursue any more mods. I just want to make sure the engine isn't going to blow up.

If its a stock turbo and fuel system, you should not be running into dangerously lean conditions. What boost level are you running and what is the turbo if you happen to know? For the 2g a t25 running at 12 psi (stock I believe) wouldnt need any fuel management or ecu management. If your worried you can disconnect the MBC from the wastegate and run at wastegate pressure. My guess would be the turbo is supplying too much air for the injectors to handle. changing you intake or exhaust wouldnt affect much

need more info from you like what is your boost set at? is the fuel system stock, what turbo is really on it? and also you realy need a wideband that will let you know how rich/lean you are running and when.
