I think i know the problem. Not to sure. Just did a flush. Fixed the wiring for the temp for the gauge. And for the computer. But it only runs hot like everyother day. I just felt my hose that goes from the radiator to the threm housing. And i could hardly squueze it. Could it be that the thermostat isnt opening?

T. stats arnt exspensive. Take it out look it over for scratches see if it looks like it is rubbing "stuck" and try squeezing it open with your hands. if it doesnt open or you see scratches on the center shaft replace it. Also I would replace the rad. cap while your there, they dont last forever and they are also cheap. Leme know if this helps!

Well I guess I'm going to vatozone today to see what I can do. Any brands I should buy?

STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING WITH THE NAME DURALAST!!!!!!. LOL With that said. I havent had anyproblems with the cheaper T.Stats. Its really just a user choise.

I dont know alot of 420a's . But when you get to auto zone they can tell you what your car runs. If you feel froggy you could run a lower temp T.Stat which obviously opens at a lower temp keeping the enginge cooler.

Yea, all they got at autozone is 195

And I did a price check it will be 20.47 for t stat and gasket and cap.

Ok if its suggests 195 you could go lower like I said, would keep the motor running cooler. Altho you dont have to go this route and just run the factory T.Stat. Usually the " racing T.stat's " run around 10 degrees cooler.

20 dollars is super cheap for everything. Im going to push the issue tho do not buy anything duralast no matter how great they say it is.

Lol gaskets shouldnt be a big deal. Im just saying never buy anything that you have to trust, in duralast. Maby they arent as terriable as I think and cant mess up a paper gasket... maby.

Im sure this should fix your problem. Only other advise I have is if you have a compressor blow out the rad.fins. Make sure you blow it out from the back, blowing anything in the fins back out the front of the rad. Leme know when you get finished how its doing!

make sure to test the new thermostat before installing it. i've gotten bad ones right out of the box, so i make a habit of testing them in a pot of water heated to temp before i install.

your in arizona no need to run a thermostat there

You need to run a thermostat in any vehicle to major damage to various gaskets located on or around the engine while its running at temp's especially if they are above optimal temps.

A thermostat is a thermostat. I havent seen any performance thermostats nor do I think theyre ever will be. As far as getting the specific thermostat for YOUR SPECIFIC car, You could pay the extra $$$ and goto your nearest mitsubishi dealership. Screw Autozone, goto NAPA.

Check if your radiator cap is worn or has excessive buildup around it; if anything looks suspicious replace it with another one.

Also ensure that your both of your cooling fans are functional, as the drivers side fan only turns on when a certain temp is reached the passenger side fan should alwaays be engaged especially if your car is running at opt temps.

If your drivers side fan doesnt turn on, turn on the AC and see if they forces the fan on, if not your fans might be the problem which is an easy fix. Either its a sensor, or the fan motor.

FYI There are " performance " T.stats. They might not always be called that but its considered prof. when you run a lower temp T.stat than a factory temp. The fan on the pass side is your cooling fan as stated, but if you do not run or dont have ac then you do not need the drivers side fan. I ran 0 fans for about 3 weeks and had 0 problems with heat, not saying its a good idea but it can be done safely.

I recently had Bad overheating problems and didnt know why..got a little froggy and copped a 180 thermostat from autozone(they had to order it) and i wired both my fans together for extra cooling..ive never had an overheating problem and at night driving fast the stock temp. gauge starts dropping a little below normal..so i believe its running cooler than factory temps...?
Deff. check to make sure your fans are working..id wire them together too(simple 30 second mod) LOL

As I said I've neevr seen a performance thermostat. You could run 0 fans and never run into a problem, but then again just as easily blow your radiator in half as I did with my 1998 Honda Civic LX (RIP)
