I read around prior to posting this and it seems that people said boost leak. Also, that I should do the boost look test (take water and soap and put it on IC pipes to see if it bubbles to identify leaks.) I checked all my IC piping and it seems fine, and it only happens when generating boost. I just finished installing new LED's on the interior of my car, so i'm thinking maybe I'm drawing too much voltage from my battery? Since this problem arrived right after I installed it. All it is that happens is that when I start generating boost, the car acts like its stalled out, and lurches, then comes back when all the boost is gone. I happen to have bad gaskets for the exhaust manifold/turbo as there is carbonate on them, and am in dire need of a tune up. Do you guys think it is a boost leak problem? Or what?

Go to your local Autozone, and get the Turbo Gasket kit. It is $28.99. Then you might as well get a new exhaust manifold gasket. Its $16.99.
Then get oil. There should be a nationwide sale for $25.99 for Oil, Oil filter, drain pan, wipes, and a funnel.
Get NGK 6's. They are $2.49 a piece. Go by the counter, and get a spark plug gap tool. Its $2.49 also. Gap the plugs to .28. Might as well get wires too. Duralast wires are $49.99.

You owe that at minimum to the car. I take it youre behind on the timing component maintenance also?

As for it not making power, check the wastegate arm. Make sure its still attached.

Well, I went back out and it turns out I didn't put the positive terminal back on tight enough that's why I was randomly having everything turn off for a brief second. As for timing I'm waiting till winter comes around because I won't be driving it and will have it sitting around the whole time so I won't be in a rush to finish it. I'll pick up spark plugs, wires, valve cover gaskets, and a turbo gasket kit when I get my paycheck and replace the oil in 1000 more miles (already did an oil change and a fluid check.) I've already gave the car a great amount of love, you should have seen the shape it was in when I got it.
*Edit 1: Just realized now you're from Sheboygan. Small world.

That would be weird if a loose terminal caused your car to fall on its face while in boost... But that fixed the issue?

I dont know how knowledgeable you are with these cars, and I didnt want to see another DSM with a bad motor on Craigslist. LOL.

And yeah, its nice to see some DSM people in WI actually on here, and doing a little reading about the cars.

Do NOT get Duralast wires. I had BNIB Duralast wires make my car run worse than the old ones I was replacing! Not a DSM but it doesn't matter what car they were on!

Go to advanceautoparts.com and buy the NGK Wires and put the coupon code ES123 in at checkout and choose a store close to you to get them at. It's like $37 after tax...

^ Good catch. Forgot what kinda car I was suggesting them to. The DSM will Probably not even run with those. It would be like "WTF ARE THESE? No... not running. Aint gonna happen."

I'm fairly new in the automotive field, about 2 months in of reading DSMtuners, making posts, reading posts, looking things up. I have a fast learning curve though, that's why I wanted a car I could fix up and make nice (hence my choice in a DSM.) But it just so happens that I recall hitting a bump whenever I would be accelerating, and seeing how I'm lowered with 3'' of clearance, its a pretty rough ride. I'm just shocked it didn't happen when driving normally. As for fixing the issue, I took it out for a test spin just after I tightened it and I could max out boost without any problems. As for spark plug wires, I'm curious what the importance in changing them really is. Does the grime build up and heat wear and tare kind of just ruin them over time? All they need to do is transmit the current.
