toronto,
ok, this problem just happened when I got home from work tonight. cars running fine, turn the car off, close the door, go to lock the door with my remote... doesnt lock... theres a small box under the hood, that controls the alarm, it has 3 wires running from it.. whats this called?? it starts to make this horrible ticking noise until I disconnect the battery and walk away.
I come back, re connect the battery, car immediately starets making the same noise.. I decide, to cut the wires going to the box.. it stops the noise, but now the car has NO POWER..
no lights, no acc, wont start, its 100% dead... any ideas??

Well obviously it has something to do with those wires and your alarm. First off, you probably shouldnt have cut them in the first place. Dis-connecting your battery would have probably been the better chice. Is the alarm factory or aftermarket and did you have it installed or was it like that when you got the car? If you had it installed, more than likely the place that did it for you has a waranty on their work and they will take care of it for you but since you cut those wires, they may not have to acknowledge it.
I dont want to sound like your dad or anything, but just because you hear a noise coming from a box that you dont know what it does, doesnt mean you should cut the wires to fix it and expect everything to be ok. Try re-connecting the wires and see if your car works. You have to remember that your alarm ties into alot of the electrical on your car, especially if you have alot of options on the alarm itself, like ignition kill, all of your parking lights, headlights, etc. You probably cut the main wire that runs your alarm and it in turn cut off power to all that it was hooked up to.

i bought the car like this, I also disconnected the battery before cutting the wires, and obviously the noise stopped, I only cut the wires becuase I wanted to seeif the car would work with the alarm bypassed...
Turns out the car has an immobilizer system I'm assuming because once you cut the power to the alarm it totally kills all power to the car. I reattached it, and for some reason all was well again.. so I guess thats good news although it doesnt bestow a high level of confidence in how it wil perform in the future all is well for now.
thanks
