car got wet - now sputters at wot

I was driving to the track yesterday and got caught in a huge thunderstorm. i went through many deep puddles and got most of the engine bay wet. today when i drove the car everything seemed fine until i went wot and then immediately the car will sputter and not boost past about 8psi. at part throttle the car runs excellent and will boost fine. i got it to about 12psi at part throttle without sputtering but as soon as i go wot the car falls on its face. i went home and pulled the air filter and tried it again with the same results. i figured the air filter was still wet causing the problem but it wasn't. i probably ingested some water but could it have made it all the way through the intercooler to ruin my gm maf which is right at the throttle body elbow? would a bad maf cause these symptoms. also, now my logger doesn't work. when i turn it on is says it has no connection with the car. this is leading me to believe the problem is electrical. it's too late to mess with it now but tommorrow i will get to the bottom of it, hopefully. any suggetions?
 
The misfiring under boost may be water down the spark plug wells.
I would pull the wires up off the plugs, and blow out any accumulated water.
I would also check the coil ends of the wires for moisture.

I don't know why the other problem is occuring. Checking the fuses for the affected circuits may turn up a popped fuse...:confused:

Individually pulling each and every connector in the engine compartment and blowing them dry may find a wet harness plug somewhere. I would make sure the injector plugs on the injectors are completely dry as well.

We had this storm pattern a few weeks ago, and I picked up a random misfire in my tsi that was a wet injector plug
 
thanks for the help. the first thing i will do tomorrow is pull the plugs and wires off and see if that's the problem as it seems like it may be an ignition problem. it seems odd that it will only do this when i go wot.

My car was just randomly misifying...

Maybe you should add the tps to the list of things to dry out/check :thumb:
 
went out and did some wot pulls and everything was fine. whatever was wrong seemed to fix itself / dry out. hopefully it stays like this. i'm still having problems with my logger though.
 
What happened was some water got sucked up and got onto the gm mafs,the gm mafs is a hotwire type mafs , so when water touches it , it reads as a lot of air then runs rich and sputters\fuelcuts. trust me ive had this problem :thumb:
 
So my turbo blowing bits of oil through the uicp would cause this?I get radom misfires under boost and when I first start the car in the morning.It throws a code 44(ignition coil),but I have new ngk plugs,accel wires,and I've switched between 3 different coil packs.
