car sputters at certain rpms

I have a 97 gsx with a t-28, greddy exhaust, and bov (NOT dumped into atmosphere). The car sputters when I keep it steady at around 2-3k rpm's. It loses power and the car shakes when the rpm's sputter down and then riht back up. I just put in the t-28 and recirculaed my greddy bov back into the intake. The problem goes away a bit when I add octane booster because I can only get 91 here in cali. Its an AT if that helps. Any help would be appriciated.

Try shifting manually through the gears and see if it still happens.

That sounds like a possible boost leak to me. Check all of your connections.
