Ran the car hard tonight. Pulled it in the garage to listen to everything. All pulls were good AFR and no knock. The car is tuned with link and it's not flashing the cel that's set at 2*. Oil was changed few days ago. It's about 2-3mm over the 2nd line. Car has bad lifter tick. Kinda sounds like this on cold starts or a minute until it warms a little. All mods in profile are current.

Watch it in HD. Car runs and drives like normal and pulls hard.

Thinking maybe BS going out. Maybe rod knock? Maybe harmonic balancer?

My friend had his balance shaft go out on him. If you drive it will vibrate like a freight train? To much lifter tick sound. I would bleed em or get 3g revised lifters then proceed from there. Or you can take off front case and make sure balance shaft belt is on there and if wanna go deep take out oil pan and look see its not busted up balance shaft bearing or anything like that. Check oil pan for metal flakes and what not. You will never know unless you get up in there and look. But doesnt sound to loud and banging like I have heard from rod knock or balance shaft. I would start with bleeding of the lifters or get 3g revised lifters. What oil do you use?

Thanks for your response. The oil is valvoline vr1 20w50 so pretty heavy especially for hot Texas weather and I did slightly over fill it last oil change.

I'm not getting much vibration when driving. I did feel the car pull a little timing when running hard earlier. I know the plug wires are going bad but it felt more like timing being pulled vs a hesitation. My knock light never came on, it's set at 2*.

I would ask how to bleed the lifters but I'm sure there's 1304$5 threads on it already :p I'll look into it. Trying to dodge pulling the oil pan but oh well if I have to. Gonna pull the valve cover too. I had just been at a local car meet with the hood popped and I walked away. Maybe someone threw something in the oil cap? Not too worried about that since its probably just bouncing around in there for 30 miles or so.

Even if I do have a bad motor, it's just an excuse to build one :D I really wanted to awd swap before building a motor though :/

Just a thought.

Mine makes a similar noise, but I can go around and press on the injector plugs, and it tends to go away for a while. Maybe it's iffy injectors?

Well i re listened to the video Does sound a little more deeper sound. I would pull off the timing cover and check the balance shaft belt to start with, if you know how to do that. Take off the motor mount remove the pulleys and take the cover off on the driver side. Then you can check there and see how things are looking. Other then that you wont really know what going on until you start digging through it. Try to start small obviously you dont wanna rip the block apart who does LOL. To bad you don't live closer we would of torn into it.

Good point. I did buy these FICs used w/ "low miles" w/o flow testing before install. I also feel like it could be the fuel rail.. Aem looks nice but I think the 2g rail would be more appropriate. I would swap them but I have a bad o ring on one of the 6an adapters.

Hmmm.. So do you guys think based on the noise and circumstances that it's most likely not rod knock or the balance shaft?

I was also low on gas in this video (1/2 tank) and my car has always run more rough under 1/2 tank for some reason, even when she was stock. I need a rewire kit for the fuel pump.

You can post a log off your dsmlink and we can check everything too. Pulling off the timing cover is probably the easiest thing you can do at this point before ripping it all completly apart.

I'll get to the log as soon as I can. Right now the car is in the garage until the lifters are bled and reinstalled. Hopefully I can get to it within a day or two.

At least if it isn't the lifters, it will quiet them down to identify the problem. I won't go buy a stethoscope yet but it is on my list.

Thinking about having someone check the timing for me too. I haven't checked it since purchasing the car from a dealer who did a full service on it. I don't have a timing light :/
