sputters at 6k rpms?

OK my car sputters at 6k rpms, I gapped my plugs to .28, I replaced the fuel filter, ran some fuel injector cleaner through it, also put it new spark plug wires, the timing is set at 5 degrees btdc, what could be the problem??

What boost level? Turbo? Injectors?

High rpm miss (I assume thats what you mean) could be boost leak, bad electrical, bad fuel supply.

Recheck plugs and plug wires. Check grounds.

Dirty injectors?

Check for boost leaks.

Sputtering is usually cased by fouled plugs and or running overly rich.

What type plugs are you using? Platinums are garbage on DSMs, use only NGK BPR6ES (stock car) or 7ES (modified car).

If plugs are ok and find no boost leaks (as Joe mentions above), may want to try subtracting fuel with the S-AFC / MAFT at the RPM range you are having issues.

Exactly as DSM90AWD said. It's either plugs/wires or a tuning issue. When did this problem start happening? Did you install something new, then the problem started...?

I really think its dirty injectors... my car is all stock except turboback exhaust and 14lbs of boost, I checked for boost leaks found none, my plugs dont look fouled, I put some crappy wal mart injector cleaner in a 3/4 tank of gas and I dont know if that helped but I am going to put some high quality injector cleaner in like the lucas stuff maybe, this problem comes and goes every other day, its gone today so I dont know if the injector cleaner helped.also I am running NGK BPR6ES plugs, im not to stupid when it comes to car anything so I was just seeing what you guys would have thought.

Are you on the same tank of gas / same gas station? May want to drain your tank and go to a different station to see if the gas itself is bad. My neighbor recently fueled his truck up at some budget station to save few $ and knocked like crazy.

IMO, if you think the Injectors are suspect, I wouldn't waste money on pour-in cleaners. Instead have them cleaned / balanced professionally. FIC or Cruzin Performance are both highly recommended. And $50-60 is cheap for peace of mind

I have some 550`s in my garage, but im waiting to pass smog before I put those in. I usually go to the same arco station I have for a while and put 91 in, I never had problems with the gas, I know arco isnt the best quality and far from it but I have filled with chevron and shell alot and had the same problem, the problem hasnt came back sense I filled up wiht a new tank of gas after putting the injector cleaner in.
