bad to shift at 6k rpms? (racing)

Don't shift at 6,000 rpms driving it down the street unless its totally necessary, at the track I usually shift just before redline (6950ish). My car is also stock. But as I said above don't shift at 6k on the streets during every day driving.

EDIT: Sorry I did not see the (racing) in your thread title. Yes 6k is fine as long as you your comfortable with it and your engine isn't going to go for a crap. Get ready to spend the cash if it is ;)

I would shift right before redline.

Dont get to cocky and get walked on by a honda cause you decided to shift at 6. Beleive it or not some hondas are pretty quick.

Look at that, and try to make up a good reason to shift after 6000, hell even 6500.. You obviously have no idea what your talking about.

Op shifting at 6000 is right where you want to shift while racing with 14b/16g size turbos and stock cams. I wouldn't shift like that all the time tho, it is hard on your transmission. I would also check to make sure your clutch is dis engaging correctly. Also check your clutch pedal assembly for wear. It would also be a good idea to get some good oil in the transmission, to help it survive the high rpm abuse.

Yeah, looking at your profile you seem to still have all stock parts. Anything after 6k rpms and you won't be producing as much power anyway.

if you are racing... stock makes max around 6K ... so why shift at 6K and then have the next gear drop to 3500-4K rpm ... shift at redline 7K and then it drops to 5K ... less to travel to 6K peak power...

I have 7-bolt oem pistons, 6-bolt rods, oem valves, supertech valve springs and retainers, and oem valve guides and seals. I used to rev my car to about 8k. Now i shift at 9k. But, for you id say your safe till redline!
