Today I noticed a bad vibration as soon as I hit 4000 rpms on my motor. It almost sounds like valves hitting but its not a ticking or knocking (I can check the comp. before doing timing belt though, if thats it), and I just installed it and got it running, and did the timing belt also. It has the balance shafts removed (bought it like that), and it is also a 4G64 block with the 63 head. Its a 7 bolt also.

another question that I have is do you install the timing belt the same on the 2.4 as you would on the 2.0? Because when I installed my timing belt, multiple times outside of the car, the exhaust cam would turn counter clockwise about half a took after the belt was on and tensioned.

Also, could the person that removed the balance shafts have left the oil pump b/s in and could that cause the vibration? just looking for ideas here on what to do as i will probally do the timing belt tommorow if I cant come up with any new leads.

Thanks for looking and hopefully answering since I couldn't find my answers in a couple of hours searching.

Thanks again,
Ryan

it wasnt doing it with my old engine... but that had balance shafts... would that make it that big of a difference and is it ok to drive for a couple of days?

Check for loose or missing bolts on your assesories (sp). A bolt fell out of my alternator and it vibrated at high rpms. Scared the piss out of me. Just look thinkgs over real well. goodl luck.

check ## balance shaft belt. thats what mine did, was a little shaky but when rev'ed up was awful. just a thought.

i dont have balance shafts, they have been removed so I have no belt, and the motor was just put in the engine, and the head had been off before that
