Ok heres the story...Its a 1997 Eclipse GS-T Fresh rebuilt about 2,000 miles on it..
-Driving to school and something didn't feel right, Picked up a friend of mine and he knows nothing about cars and said it sounded funny..
...So about 5 miles later it starts knocking.. I knew this wasn't good then a few seconds later CLANK CLANK shit is just rattling like crazy and it dies.
...Called my dad and we had it towed back to my house and it has sat since.. About 4 months almost 5 months it has not moved and I really want to fix it.. Tuesday it will be going to my uncles shop and just wondering if anyone can aim me in a good direction to start fixing this thing.. THANK YOU!
-Also gonna include some pics.. This thing is awesome and I want it to run again.

Sounds like you shot a rod. If that is the case you will have to get a new bottom end. Or you snapped your timing belt and your valves met your pistons. Ether way. If you hear CLACK CLACK it is never good.

Sorry to hear about that bud. I dont want to be the one to bear the bad news but from the sounds of it I think you may have lost oil pressure and locked up the motor. Can you recall if there was oil pressure at the time this happened? Improper break in could of been an issue. And will the motor turn over at all?

After readng your post again. You threw a rod or lost a Piston. I'm sure of it.

Well was the noise coming from the bottom end. Climb under there and pull the oil pan, check the rods the clank clank sounds like a rod. If its coming from the bottom end its a bad bearing or a rod let go. If its coming from the valve cover could be a colapsed lifter, a bad valve. But im willing to bet its bottom so srop the cover and post what you see. Take a pic. if you can well get you on the right track.
And improper wear in is almost garrenteeed to cause this issue, or improper assembly. did you hold the car to like 2000rpm for 20 minutes or so to let everything set, thats what i did and 11000 miles in no issues.
Sexy car to im liking it.

I will take some pictures tuesday night and post them on here...When we try to turn it on it just clanks some more (Only tried to turn it on once since it died just to see what it did). I have no clue where its coming from, don't know much about motors but I'm sure I will know a good amount after fixing this LOL...I did not build the motor either.. I bought it from a guy and it only had 160 miles on the rebuild and I changed the oil twice after I got it.. Once at 500 miles and once at 1000.

Is it a clank or is it a knock. Go and drop the pan youll be able to see if the rod/piston let go by turning the crank while looking at it. You will see the good cylinders moving the rods and pistond normal and if theres one that is let go it will not move. If they al move just fine look at the bearing. Actually when you drain the oil if you find small shavings of metal theres a good chance its bearings. Either way the motors coming out.

Alright, I will be checking all this tuesday night or wednesday morning.. If me and my uncle do all the work ourselves.. How much do you think this will cost me? Everyone is telling me it will be REALLY expensive if I just try to get a shop to do it so my uncle told me he would help me out.
Another thing is.. When i pulled the dipstick when we got home.. NO OIL. This was like a couple hundred miles after an oil change.
-It was knocking while driving at first, THEN it sounded like a whole bunch of shit clanging around and then died..

Ouch is all im going to say. No oil is always really bad. But screw the shop just start learning now i didn't nkow anything about cars until i bought my first dsm. Now i have my uncles(all mechanics one is certified and works for suburu hear in idaho) calling me for help. Trust me this will not be the end of broken parts. But clanking indicates a rod/ piston that let loose. Knocking would lean more towards just the bearings. Price is going to depend on whats wrong and what parts you want to fix it.
If its just bearings the car could be fixed for 3-400 hundo. or so with all the gaskets and whatnot. If its rods or pistons you will be looking at proabably 6 hundo for parts if you go cheap(like buying others used pistons or rods which if your looking to keep under 400hp thats the rout id go) If your looking at more then that you might as well go with forged interns. which that will be expensive. If you decide to go with rebuilt interns. just find a good used rods, pistons and crank whatever needs to be replaced on it and be sure to buy brand new bearings and rings. Be sure when you rebuild it you let her rev to about 2000rpm for 20 minutes or so that way everything can set. When you figuer out whats wrong let us know and well send you on the exact track this is just an idea of what will need to be done depending on the problem.

And be sure you find out why you had no oil find the leak if there is one if not then odds are your car was screwed before and burned all the oil.
And be sure you DO NOT start the car anymore you dont want the parts destroying the block beyond repair.

Alright I will definitely be posting on here tuesday night or wednesday morning..Im not looking to really go for power I will probably fix it and sell it and sell my 3g eclipse and buy a really nice GSX. I just want it to be fixed for pretty cheap and see how much I can sell it for..

No oil. Ya man sounds like you threw a rod. You will need a new block If you punched a hole in it, witch it sounds like you did. Find a good 6 bolt and do the swap.

Negitive nancy:applause: haha i like that.

Eh I can handle the truth LOL. Best to know all the possibilities though. Thanks alot. Hopefully its not as bad but im prepared for the worst

Ya prepare for the worst hope for the best is the way to go. Either way it'll be cool dude you can get used motors for these cars for a nuthair man. I got a dsm junkyard in my garage cause parts are so cheap whether i need them or not i get them haha.

Someones always got to be the one to break the bad news! Best bet is to take a look at the block and drop the oil pan. let us know what ya find and we will help you out as much as we can, to get that thing up and running again! Good Luck and post pics if you can

I'm willing to bet that block has a window in it now, but I agree, take the oil pan off and start there.
