I can't find a solution for this online, and it's killing me! I hope you guys can help.
Okay so, my car starts with the maf unplugged and runs. It idles low and doesn't run well... but it runs. As soon as I plug the maf in it sputters and then eventually turns off. Naturally, I thought the maf was bad, but when I swapped the maf (with a known good one) I have the same problem. It's almost as though it's not getting enough fuel so I checked the fuel pump. The fuel pump turned out to be fine and I'm still having this problem. For a few weeks I've noticed that my car would sputter a little bit until it got warm, but now it won't move at all and immediately shuts off when the maf is plugged in. Any thoughts?

Currently fighting with a similar issue. I believe mine is a wiring issue, but you might want to do a boost leak test to rule that out. Also, you might have a bad IAC.

I checked my IAC and my ecu. Both are fine. It can't be a boost leak because my car won't even start. It doesn't need to build boost to start. I can't figure this out. Thanks for the suggestions.

A bad enough boost leak, such as an intercooler pipe blowing off, will cause the car to not even start. Been there, done that.

Ecu or wiring. Just saying things look ok doesn't give any real evidence if the part is bad or not. Parts need to be tested properly before ruled out.

+1 for this. ECU can look fine, yet be bad. Check wiring in the engine bay to see if any were melted.

Okay so how would I do a boost leak test if I can't even get my car to start? And how do I test my ecu? It looks and smells fine. What wiring do I have to check?

You dont need to have a running car to test for boost leaks, follow the video above and tell us the results!

And you can send it into ecmtuning to test for the ecu or borrow another to test it or trace every single pin yourself which will take ages and is only if your cheap and dont want to spend on getting it tested!

Also have you checked to see if any of the maf wires are broken or corroded! If it runs fine with it UNplugged but dies when plugged in that makes me think there is an ecu fault,

But let me ask this what bov have you got?

He has an hks BOV... cylinder 3 appears to be dead, there is spark, and fuel im wondering if he has low compression in that cylinder.

Okay Inhave no boost leak, I also did a compression test. It had low compression in cylinder 4, but when I added oil the compression went right up to where it should be. So compression isn't the issue. I have no idea what is wrong with my car. If anyone has anymore suggestions it would be appreciated. Thanks!
