Approximately 9 months ago, went to start car and car would not start. Found out that the ECU needed to be replaced. Needed a ECU ASAP so I purchased a re-man. from the local parts store. Car ran great for 6 months, then started cutting out a highway speed to the point that car was un-drivable due to cutting out, ( entire electrical system would turn off then back on repeatedly) Replaced ECU again, from salvaged 91 AWD Talon. ECU from salvaged car had been repaired before I installed it in my car 3 months ago. NOW my car is again having the same problem, completely cutting out at highway speeds. AGAIN the entire electrical system will turn off then right back on, and will continue to do it over and over, and now from a stand still not just higher speeds. Cut out 2 times while trying to take off from a stop sign. AT a loss of what could be wrong this time, dont want to buy anymore parts. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

you should probably have a better thread title to aid in serches so others can help, brian (snowboarder) will probably come in here and tell you the same thing.

but since i am feeling nice, id say check your alternator. something is CAUSING your ECU to die. i dont think its just dieing on its own.

Voltage is good, alternator is pulling 13.9 at highway speeds. Besides transmission, where are the other ground locations? Will check wiring from alternator to fuse box and will update progress. Just wondering though, why did the problem go away when i swapped computers??

well it sounds like the computer is what caused your issue of the car running like ass...100% yes. but something is causing the ecus to do that also. so you have more then one problem. if you go through more then 2 ecus in a short period of time it makes you wonder why, bet you the 3rd and 4th would do the same.

in summary: something is killing your ECUs which is causing all kinds of other issues.

Its amazing what our cars can do and can not do with loose battery connections. Tightened both connections, test drove the car for about 35 minutes, Voltage in car was still 13.9-14.0v, but to my surprise no cutting out. I wish all repairs were simple and FREE!:hellyeah: Thanks once again fellas.
