Hi everyone i have been working on my 90 laser turbo for the past two months and can't figure out this problem for the life of me i am stumped an am looking to you guys here for some guidance. I hope you can help me get this problem figured out thank you in advance! Okay so i have replaced pretty much everything in the drive train. I installed new master an slave cylinder both have been bleed properly an master is extended all the way out for the best throw. I've also replaced the clutch flywheel and pressure plate and still nothing. I then replaced the pivot ball and clutch fork an shimmed the pivot ball. Still nothing has happened. The car will not go into gear at all but when the car is off it will go into every gear just fine. I have also been browsing threw the forums looking for some info on this i have done everything i have seen to do on the forums but still the same result. Someone please help i have no clue on what to do to fix this problem it is my dd and really need to get it running thank you!

Have you actually had someone under the car to see if the clutch fork moves when you press the clutch?

What condition is your clutch pedal assembly in? Can you lift the clutch pedal up with your foot or hand after the pedal reaches its stationary point on its own? If so, it's worn out and should be rebuilt/replaced.

Are you still running the rubber hydraulic line that bolts to the transmission, linking hard lines running from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder? As the line gets old, it may expand when the pedal is depressed and keep the slave from fully extending.

Yes i have my buddy press the clutch and it has good movement. It also lines up on the driver side of the hole. I don't think its my linkage cause i can get in every gear while the car is off but i will check it out again. I have also bleed the system multiple times an get the same result is there an alternate way to bleed the system? Thank you all for the input! Is there anything else that can be causing this issue?

Yes i am still running that rubber line. Is there a good replacement i can find for it?

It's an xtd stage 4 6puck clutch an pressure plate with a F1 lightweight flywheel. i also tried it with the stock flywheel with the same result. An i put one washer behind the pivot ball. When i put an extended rod in the car wont start.

Iam talking about the rod between your clutch fork and slave. they make extended rods. I made one out of a # 8 hardened bolt. you need to bring the throwout bearing closer to pressure plate. make sure you have throwout bearing in correct. the reason is that fly and pressure plate arent as thick as stock.

Yea im talking about that rod to. When it is installed the car wont start. With the regular rod in the tob sits right on the pressure plate. My pedal assembly only has about a couple milimeters of play not to much. The tob is also brand new. So you think it is still something dealing with that im still stumped on this. Thank you all for the useful information.

Its adjusted all the way out that is why im stumped i have done everything i dont know if there is anything else i can do. I hope there is something i need this car running. Any other input on the issue?

Does anyone have any more advice for me i really need this car running:confused:. Any info will help thanks in advance!

Ok so i went out an used the two person bleeder method an i still had no luck. So I'm wondering if i should try a vacuum bleeder? Has anyone else had this problem with the 91 fwd transmissions? No matter what i try i keep getting the same result I'm starting to wonder if it is something majorly wrong? The weird thing is when i got it back from the transmission shop the car would shift just fine then about two days later i went out to drive it an the car wouldn't go in gear at all it locks me out of gear. When i put it in 1st and try to start the car it launches forward so the clutch isn't disengaging at all. What can this be?

does anyone have any thoughts on the problem? I can't find any other threads about the same issue I'm having. So I'm really needing someone knowledgeable about this to chim in an give me a helping hand! Thank you.

It could very well be the linkage in the tranny man.. If it was working fine when you first got it back and one day poof stopped working.. kinda makes you wonder if something slipped from not being tight right...

Call the tranny shop and see if they can hook ya up.. if you got it from them een in alamogheto there should be some type of warrenty on the thing...:thumb:

I bought the tranny used from a buddy in las cruces. I had guys transmission replace it an they cracked the bell housing an went an talked to them about the crack an they toll me it was from me driving it home.So I then pulled it an installed a new clutch pressure plate an flywheel. I made sure it lined up correctly an tightened all the bolts equally an the crack isn't to noticeable now but it has done this with 2 different transmissions i have another pair of shifter cables i might try. The car goes into gear just fine with it off but once i start it an try nothing it's a no go.

Try this simple test. Get on a flat parking spot, put the car in first (for you it would be with the car off). Leave the clutch pressed and rev the engine up to redline. If the car starts moving below 7200 rpm then you clutch is dragging. This would narrow down your problem.

I am having the same exact problem with my 93 n/t 2.0 i was driving and out of no where couldnt shift into any gears and my clutch got really stiff. When the car is turned off i can go through the gears just fine. With the car runnning I cant do anything!!! I need advice too!

It means that your clutch is not disengageing.

I would make sure that your clutch is stepped correctly. Take it to a machine shop and have them check it out.

When your buddy pushed the clutch in, how close to the passenger side of the hole on the trans was your clutch fork?

Or how far did the clutch fork travel?

Alright i did as you said an the car lurches forward an doesn't start with it in gear. What can this mean?

Like said above, your clutch isn't disengaging.

Read here Jacks Transmissions LLC — Clutch Drag Kills Synchros! and just check off what you already tested out to be ok.

Here is a thread of someone having the same problem Jacks Transmissions Forums • View topic - 1g wint go into gear when engine running. the last possible culprit in that thread was crankwalk, hope that's not your problem.

His is a 90, so it's a 6-bolt. Even if it was a 7-bolt it still isn't to likely. Crankwalk is so overhyped. LOL

From what I understand its done this on 2 diff clutches.. I was over there last night.. When the clutch was pressed you hear no tick, click ping nothing as if the clutch is disengaging at all.. The hose is rubber but is not flexing at all..

What I did see to me anyways as it was like 3am with a flashlight...LOL looked as when the clutch was pressed it only moved about 3/4 of an inch..

Wait, so how did this begin?

Did his last clutch go bad, and then he tried two different clutches and both the new clutches do the same thing?

Or did he buy the car with the problem?

How can i check and see if the car has crankwalk? Will there be play if i wiggle the flywheel up an down or is there a different way to check this? I'm hoping it's not crankwalk i just bought this car about 3 months ago an was only able to drive it about two weeks after purchase. If it is crankwalk will i have to get the whole motor rebuilt? An i will go measure the throw of the slave and get back to you asap! Thank you all for the information.
