So on my FWD Talon Daily Driver I feel every gear engage it feels nice and notchy, on my AWD GSX project It seems I can no longer feel first and second gear at all.... It just kinda slides up and down without friction. On all the other gears you can feel the normal engagement but not on first and second... I assume its my gear hub perhaps or sychro's.

Shifter Adjustment

Also what year is the AWD and have you swaped the tranny from a different year? I ask because 90 transmissions the arm was a different shape from 91+ 1g's. You can put a 90tranny in a 91+ and it becomes a short shifter but you cannot put a 91+ in a 90 without swaping the arm and that is impossible without a press and having the tranny out of the car.

well the whole thing has been swapped at one time or another but, it looks like a 90 tranny to me... I also think the linkage is adjusted correctly... But I am missing the two rubber stopers....

was there a timewhen you could feel them in your AWD? IF so it's probably wear on something interanl in the trans, i've seen this on cars before but never was it something i was workin on or diagnosing.. i bet Twicks69 (Tim) could tell you wihtout thinking what it was., that man is awesome with DSM trannies

yeah i felt it before, I am just making educated guess.. First and second weren't the greatest for me but after i installed my 2100 clutch it progressively worsened.

So just to clarify, it feels as if you're not even going into gear, just really smooth?

If so, that's how my 90 is as well, still using the 22 spline stock tranny, 1st gear just goes in like butter, can't even tell it went into a gear. I don't really mind, but I have wondered why.

sorry ive been away for a while but back on topic, the like said above the first does slide in like its not there but sometimes its unable to slide in so i have to roll a bit then it will slide in. Im sure that is a synchro issue but I just went out today and bleed my cluth line and i can feel it a bit more then before. I think that ill just pull the transmission soon because I'm sure it is gonna brake on me soon Im looking at english racing and there transmissions start at 900$ so im kinda trying to shop around if anyone has any ideas
