Im planning on getting a Big 16g, or a EVO III 16g.

I DON'T want to get DSMLink, I already have a safc2 and logger..and thats what im going to use.

The problem is..I know that people say that you can't use 660's on a safc because of the timing advanced. But I have heard of some people saying that they use it with no problems.

If I can tune 660s on a safc, then I will get the EVO III.
If I can't use 660s on a safc, then I will just get the Big 16g, WIth 550's.

I dont want to get a maf-t or any wideband or other tuning things...just a simple safc. And yes...I have every other supporting mod.

So...can I use the 660's on a safc without timing problems? or not?

Could you get them to work? Yes. Is it going to work without any cons? No. You need something more then an AFC to control 650s and up. I've seen it done many times but it's also not done correctly.

If your set on using your AFC, just buy a set of 550s and tune from there. Your car will be much faster on 550s (boost and timing) then with 650s (boost + no timing). Granted your IDCs can be easily over-ran with both turbos, just try to keep it under 90%.

Another possibility, is look into a custom e-prom chip. Andy helped me out with mine and I would not look back.

I currently run 660's with my 50 trim with just an SAFCII. I've reached a peak 18* timing on a good tune so tuning with the AFC won't present HUGE problems. Like BadassGST said, look into getting eprom ECU with injector compensation, I will be getting that very soon and I won't be hestitating to either. Goodluck.

p.s., I have also used the 660's with my e316G @ 20 psi with 20* peak timing @ 7200 rpms

Did you get it dyno tuned? I plan on getting it dyno tuned if I do end up getting the 660's... because I'm not really experienced enough with tuning myself.
What psi can I push with 550's? 660's? On a Big and EVO III.

550's are a very good choice and will net you a much easier time tuning. If you're intent on doing the 660's give it a try and datalog, see what your results are, and just sell or trade someone for some 550's... It isn't going to take away much time from your schedule as they can be changed in 10 minutes.. :thumb:

what are you planning for your car? pump or race fuel? as high boost as possible or a street tune?

i'm asking because i have 550s with my Evo III 16G and they work fine together. all my mods are in my profile if you want to check them out. but i'm at 278hp on a conservative (slightly rich) tune at 21psi on 93 octane. unfortunately i can't check my injector duty cycle but i'm really not that worried about it.

I did not get my car dynotuned. I only use the logger/AFC to get my car dialed in. You can run 20 psi on both 550's or 660's. The only question is how safe do you want to be? Every car is different, but with 550's your IDC will be higher than with 660's, but the ocmpensation would be that the car is slightly harder to tune (not really if you know what you're doing).

550's are suffiecient for use with either the Big 16 or the EvoIII. They are easier to tune than 660's, although you can still tune 660's without DSMlink. My buddy's using 660's with a 20G and he still tunes with an AFC, running consistent low 12's. Good luck!
