I think the top one is the coolant temp sensor, but what is the bottom one? I need to replace the bottom one because the blade connector broke off but I dont know what it's called.

The top sensor is the coolant temp sensor for your ecu. It actually tells your car how much fuel to add for starts, etc. The bottom is the coolant temp sensor for your gauge cluster. It only tells the gauge what to read.

I'll check that out...the needle on the temp gauge usually stays at normal level around halfway but every now and then it will move a little more up but as soon as I step on the gas it goes back down really quick to halfway on the gauge. I've been keeping an eye on the entire coolant system and I know it's not overheating...no spilled coolant, no steam, etc.

I broke that poor little guy the other day. Someone did a crappy repair job basically right at the connector. The angle it's at compared to the harness is sharp enough as is, but when I tried to disconnect the O2 sensor, snapola!

It's probably your cluster, but you should also feel around on the inside where the sensor is and see if something has somehow gotten trapped in the little orifice. Unlikely, but possible.

so which one of those would cause the car to add to much fuel? i guess the top one?

if you are not reading the posts then i dont expect you to read this reply either, your question was already answered please read the posts. thanx:ohdamn:

heres how you test your cluster.. disconnect the connection to your sender. with the key on the ''on'' position.

next have your buddy sit in the car and watch the needle.

next send that connector you just disconnected straight to ground for just a split second.

the needle should rise very quickly. Do not leave it to ground for too long or else you can damage your cluster.

-------------------

Make sure your coolant temp sensor is reading right also. disconnect the connection to the top sensor.
with your voltage meter make sure that the pcm is sending 5Volts (reference Voltage)

I have a question about the ecu temperature sensor also. I made my son a new harness and not sure if it matters which wire went to what side of the sensor?
Thanks

Could these sensors cause the Radiator Fans not to kick on... Or is it something completely different

I'd say replace your sensors, rockauto.com have them pretty cheap, less than local stores. +1 about the gauge cluster wire could be broken?

Are you experience overheating issuses, like an empty overflow bottle once in awhile.

I recommend look under your car at the water pump and lower radiator that sits on the support. You never it could be cracked, could happend over time with oem radiators.

It's possible, about the fans not kicking on. I know one of them kick on when motor is very hot, driver side.

Motor to your fan could be bad, might want by one new or used from pull a apart.

well I installed to new fans in car already but they do not kicking so I did an override and they kick on could be that the relay could be out as I have no power going to the temp sensor
