I have 1g GST with 3"dp, 2.5"cat, going to get 2.5" catback, and a MBC. I want to know from people who have them if the following parts are worth it - can you actually feel the difference?

-2G exhaust manifold on 1g
-2G O2 sensor housing on 1g
-Intake (Dejon tool,ect...)

I don't want to spend time and money on a part that doesn't REALLY make a difference.

You dont sound too confident about modding your car, whether you feel a difference or not if you know its purpose and your trying to make your car faster that should be all the reason to do it anyways. Everything you upgrade with works as a system to make the last mod better and etc when it comes to air flow and performance, all your really doing is just trying to make the engine flow better the engines just a big glorified air pump and you need to free up restrictions and pumping loses to increase power. So how much power you make depends on how many little things you add such as intake, o2 housing, manifold etc.

The problem is i believe in cost effectiveness, not just bolting on a bunch of parts until i make more power. you're right; I'm not confident about parts ive never tried on a turbo car. I've tuned up NA cars before and my custom CAI's helped, but i dont have experience w/ turbo cars and how they respond to similar mods. Also, i was wondering if the 2g O2 sensor housing is really and upgrade to my perfectly fine 1g housing or whether the difference is so small its a waste of money and time.

My reason for buying/adding a part is not for the sake of modding; its for a noticeable improvement in the car. You do have a point that although you might not notice any one of the parts individually, combined they might make a noticeable improvement.

I kno im doing a 2g mani b/c my 1g is cracked, but i dont think theres anything wrong with my 1g o2 housing so it there any reason to get a 2g?

I noticed a difference w/ the evo3 exhaust manifold installed (bigger than ported 2G). Quicker spool, and slightly more up top. The best of both worlds:rocks: . But only minor. I didn't feel a thing w/ the 2g o2 housing swap. . .
 
thats an old post and his car has changed dramatically since then (according to his profile)
and the only thing im wondering is if he had stock exhaust (even though it says in his post he had no other mods) b/c that would be a great feat
 
you better change that before some idiot posts something like
"YOU WENT 12's WITHOUT ANY CAMS!"

That doesnt sound like an amazing feat, my friends awd laser was runnin 12.1's on a 14b with no cam work.

Depending on what mods your going to do will determine how big a role that will play.
Forget the 2g mani unless you feel like porting, id suggest putting a evo3 manifold, and fully pre ported evo3 o2 housing ( with an full exhaust system ) and yea youll notice a nice gain. Most of these gains are more significant in the cars top end ( high rpm range). Also if your still on a side mount and stock intercooler hosing upgrading that will be a BIG gain in power once you go to a fmic. Remember turbo cars gain like twice to three times as much per mod than an n/a car does. Same thing applies with bigger engines.
For instance, on a n/a honda for example... Fully exhaust, and cold air intake and cams and youd be lucky if you gained 40whp... On a turbo dsm you can gain more than 40whp just with full exhaust alone.(Seen it happen) and the higher the boost is the more the gain will be per mod.
I understand the part about you being on a budget, id say do the stuff I just mentioned ( exhaust and fmic wise ) and run say 16 to 17 lbs ( supposing you have a fuel pump, if not get that too ) and youll probably be content with your set up because it doesnt sound like your looking for much with that car.
 
The only time you can "feel" a difference is when there is a 30+ hp gain. Anything below that is a percieved difference. With that being said, I agree that even minor mods will add up and depending on boost leven and tune you might actualy "feel" them. Each of these systems should be a piece in your ultimate goal. For exaple if he wants to go GT42R down the road then a ported 2g O2 is a waste of money.
 
Like I tell everyone...I learned the hard way.

Go Full 3" if your goals/hp wants are over 330hp. 2.5" pipe is only good for upto 350whp....anything over that and its like blowing through a coffee stir straw.

External Wastegate is a good idea above that also :thumb:
 
The only mod to the fuel system i'm planning is a rewired stock F.P. Gonna stick with the 14b as well. I'll ditch the 2g o2 housing and put on a ported 2g mani. It sounds like FMIC's really give some major power... how much for a FMIC setup? I'm definately not planning on anywhere over 300whp with a FWD car w/o a LSD. I want a nice backroads car, not a dragster.

Who here wants (or has) spent money on a part that made no perceivable difference or benefit? To me it doesn't make any sense. I don't see anything wrong with wanting to kno which mods produce and which aren't worth the time, money, and effort.

I have 3" DP, 2.5" cat, and im going to have 2.5" catback piping this summer. I will be re-wiring the FP. I am running a custom dual stage MBC setup. I'm also getting a ported 2g ex mani.

Would a FMIC be a worthwhile upgrade for this level of modification? Upgraded SMIC?
 
The common concensus will be that a fmic is the best upgrade no matte the level of horsepower. I have to say that I noticed significant improvements in lb/min logged and overall performance. Across the power band increases. I went to a FMIC w/ a small 16G and stock fuel system At that point it was the best bang for the buck by far.
