I will be doing a rebuild very soon. Now I have read threads about what is better 1g or 2g pistons and whatnot, and I understand the difference.
my current setup is in my profile, but i will also be adding valve springs and Comp 101200 cams(just purchased) during rebuild.

Now, my questions are....

#1.... 1g or 2g pistons?

I know people say there isnt that much of a difference that you can notice between the 1g and 2g pistons, but when they say that are they referring to a stock setup? Would a little more compression be good for my setup?

#2.... 2g or evoIII exhaust mani ported or SBR mani unported?
Which one should flow more? the 2 choices will be close to same price.

*once rebuild is done I will be getting my car dynotuned shortly after*

Thanks :thumb:

I would get the SBR manifold and clean it up abit myself it looks like a great piece. I will pick one up when my 2G cracks.

I ran Ross forged pistons mainly for a little more insurance from detonation. If your on a budget just get the 1G pistons and spend the money at the machine shop boring and balancing and get ARP everything. you can to 2G pistons the extra compression dont afect anything. but the extra money most of us have to spend getting them to fit in a 6 bolt engine gets you somewhat close to the price of drop in forged pistons.

My reasoning:

Ross 8.5 pistons with rings: 400$

2G pistons: 200$
after market rings: 80$
machine shop work to make them fit: 100$

prices may vary, this was my experience.

hope it helped.
