2G Can the 2g gsx 5 speed transmission always be rebuilt?

I see it's hard to find these transmissions nowadays. If I wreck mine can I always just buy a rebuild kit to fix it or can it damage other parts of the transmission to make it unrepairable? I seen people weld together back broken cases. I never did transmission work before so I don't know how complex it can get to trying to repair one with a lot of damage.

Many of the parts are no longer available, basically you can get a few synchronizers, most of the bearings and misc clips and seals, the case or other hard parts like gear sets can be iffy.

What other parts is this missing? I'm guessing input and output shaft for one. Does this include the gears? I'm not sure if these are old or new parts they make.

I'm just trying to get a list of parts I'll need to fully rebuild my transmission if it ever comes down to needing one. I been thinking of getting a dogbox but I was reading you still have to use OEM parts so I'm not 100% sure what all other parts you need for it if you only have the transmission case. I know you'll need things like a clutch and flywheel but it seems like they aren't going to quit making them for our cars.

I'm wondering if 3D printing can solve the issues for parts no longer made for our transmissions as it's getting more common for classic cars to 3D print parts. I wonder why no one has really brought up this as a solution but I assume 10-20 years from now this may be our only option to get parts for our cars.

I wonder if eventually they're going to run out of them? Wondering if I should atleast stock up on a couple transmissions if I find any used ones on the marketplace incase mine goes out one day. It's too bad nobody makes a crate transmission for us. Magnus I believe makes crate 4g63ts but no transmissions.
