Can I use shorter 7 bolt Flywheel bolts on XTD 6 bolt Flywheel?

I just got rid of my PTT Twin Disc Setup and 7 bolt flywheel bolts were installed instead of 6 bolt flywheel bolts. My vehicle is a 6 bolt 91 GVR4.

I believe that the 7 bolt flywheel bolts are 21.2mm long as opposed to 22.5mm long.

Now I am putting the XTD flywheel on and I am wondering if I need to get 6 bolt Flywheel bolts again.

The 7 bolt flywheel bolts are in good shape I am just wondering if there is enough thread on the 7 bolt bolts to keep that flywheel bolt on without issues.

Money is very tight and the old 7 bolt bolts are in good shape.

I am just going to do it. I tried it out and it sure seems to have enough thread in the holes.

I imagine they would...but why risk it? If money is tight, you should do it right the first time. If things end badly due to the wrong bolts, you'll be kicking yourself and end up having to spend even more money that you don't have.

In this circumstance you will be fine. Normally, I would recommend that you measure the thread depth in the crank flange of actual usable threads and then measure the thickness of the flywheel flange you are using. Then you know the total thickness (or depth) that you will need to fully engage while not bottoming out the flywheel bolts in the crank flange.

100 ft/lbs and Loctite Red.

Otherwise, it is like $18.00 for new flywheel bolts.

MD302074 = 7-bolt flywheel bolts - 21.2mm
MD040557 = 6-bolt flywheel botls - 22.5mm

Or just buy the right ones, they are cheap.

If 1mm is all the difference you shroud be fine.

Thanks all....bolts should go one more time. Torqued 100 ft pounds with loctite. I'll save the 18 bucks for MAPP gas next time lool.
