Alright so after some extensive searching I still can't seem to find the answer to my question.

I've read Magnus's 6 bolt swap article I also have read the one here on tuners and RRE's.

None of them seem to specify how to bolt up the 6-Bolt motor onto a 2g tranny!!

I know you obviously need need to use a 6 bolt flywheel but wouldn't you have a problem with the 2g starter?

Doesn't matter what 4G63 you put in your car - they're all the same.

The transmission and flywheel are the only things that differ. if you have a FWD flywheel, a FWD Starter, and an FWD Transmission it should bolt up. The starter only connects to the transmission. as long as you're using a 4G63 it doesn't matter what car the motor came out of.

i searched and found that in like 10 seconds. haha but its all good hopefully the info helps you out im pretty sure all you need is a starter specific to the drivetrain but all the starters are the same if you get what im saying.

But that is my question exactly.

Maybe i didn't phrase it correctly.

I am asking in order to but a 6 bolt motor in my 95 GSX what flywheel/starter/starter ring combination do i need to use to bolt it into the 95 AWD tranny?

You need a 6bolt AWD flywheel. And the starter out of your 95 will work. ooo and the starter plate from your 95.

Alright thank you everyone for the fast awesome responses.

So this is what I understand so far.

I need the following:

6 Bolt AWD Flywheel
7 Bolt Starter Plate
7 Bolt AWD Starter

So the 6 bolt AWD Flywheel will go right onto a 7 bolt AWD tranny? I thought the splines were different??

Can someone confirm this so I can go ahead with the swap?? =]

They fit just fine. I just swapped one in my car about a month ago :p

You need the flywheel which correctly bolts to the crank in the engine you're installing.
The clutch plate and disc are the same for all.

haha - i was thinking something along those lines when i read this 1st post. What flywheel do you need for your 6bolt ? The one with 6 bolts holes of course! :dsm:

Sorry I had to correct this.

The plates are definitely not the same for all as when I did a fwd to awd swap the fwd plate had the holes differently aligned then the awd plate. Not to mention the extra bottom plate the fwd set has since it doesn't use the transfer case.

Yes I am referring to the STARTER plate that goes between the flywheel and the block.

And if you're referring to the clutch PRESSURE plate then yes they are all the same.

The splines on the output shaft of all our transmissions are the same, that is why we can interchange clutches between 1g's and 2g's. As long as you don't forget the starter plate and the correct flywheel (6bolt awd in your car) you'll be fine. Everything will bolt up and im sure you'll have other things to worry about after all is said and done:)
