can i remove this temperature sender?

i am trying to install an aftermarket water temp sensor, i need to know if i can remove this sensor and have no adverse effects on the car. I was told that this sensor only is used by the a/c wich i no longer have. i am worried about removing it then not having my electric fan kick in

That one is for the ECU. You can't remove it... your car won't start. The other little one beside it is for the stock gauge... that one you can use.
