Camshaft oil seals question

I went to check my camshaft seals and there were none..
I guess the shop gave me my assembled head without the camshaft seals..
i have them ready to put in but i just need
to know if the spring side of the seal goes against the head

The flat face of the seal faces out, the spring side is on the inside, hope that explains it well enough.

So wait, are you saying the flat end faces toward the cam sprockets and open end spring side faces toward the cylinder head? Doing head gasket repair on 420a and can't remember which way this thing goes, please if anyone knows give a holler
