Cams question

I was wondering what does a bad cam do? What are the simptons? Hiw do you know if their bad or not? Do the original cams have a B: <--- like that with the 2 dots in each cam end next to the cam gears?

Bad cams make knocking and grinding sounds. Chew up cam caps and the head. They also damage rocker arms and bent valves. If the cam is bent you'llost likely hear knock and feel missfire. Take the valve cover off and check the cams. Look for shavings( black or silver tiny microscopic dust, usually). Usually the cam dosent fail by it self, it usually get damaged from other failed components.

Also do a leak down test and compression test if you think there is a problem with the head.

Oh ok I was just asking because I had the head rebuilt 2 times one because it heated and broke gasket second timing belt went off and had bent valves and all I put everything bak together and everything works and I had replaced the isc because ideling was messed up and worked but I was told that if I fixed the head I had to definately had to replace cams wich I doubtthey look good
