Cam Shaft Mods??

I just recently purchased a 99eclipse RS , and the first thing i wanted to look into modding is the camshaft. But i don't have a clue where to start looking?? How can you tell where to look, and what fits??

Youre not going to see much of an increase with just a camshaft.

Check the Parts catalog up top if youre really interested though. As long as youre looking at the 420a parts youre good to go.

With that said, I would suggest following the parts upgrade path. Youll get more bang for your buck before you install camshafts. Also, do you plan on staying NA or slapping on a turbo anytime soon? That plays a big role in what lift/duration cam you should be looking at.

I'm just curious as to why the first thing you want to modify is the camshafts rather than the regular paths people usually walk for their cars?

well i always thought that upgrading and modding the mechanical pieces of the motor would be more efficient in power gains than mods such as new exhaust/intake piping.

There's a lot more to it than just slapping different cams on. Please do more research; engine building can be very complicated. To see appreciable gains, you'll need to know what you're doing.

The engine is a big air pump. Volumetric effiency is the game. The easier air can get in and out of the engine, the more power you can make.
