Well for a while I have had a hard time starting the car, figured it was cause of the 1000cc injectors and E85 switch over. Well Friday I was trying to leave work and wont start at all, acting like its not getting any spark. Checked out a few things and went and got a used CAS, swapped it on and started right now no problem, Idled perfect and drove it home from work. Parked it in the garage and didnt touch this the next morning to leave for work and it does the damn same thing now, Acting like its not getting spark again and just keep turning over and over till the battery is almost dead! Its starting to piss me off. Why would it run fine after swapping on another CAS and then start the same thign again? Something ruining the CAS? Any ideas would help guys! Hate to say it but she's my daily driver!:notgood:

My thoughts are;
There is a bad connection/broken wire on the cas plug.
Clogged fuel filter.fouled plugs
Something about moving the cas changed the timing.

How about verifying if it is a fuel or spark issue? That would be were to start.

I have swapped 2 sets of plugs in, and this morning when I got in it to start it had had spark and acted like it wanted to start then it just stopped and kept turning over and over. I took a quick glance at the wires to it and they looked to be fine. Ill look again tomarrow. Fuel filter will cause all this? And yes it has fuel pressure

This is what e85 can do to injectors. Now think, that had to come from somewhere, and prob is in the fuel filter to.

And if is just pouring fuel in, unatomized, it will be about impossible to get to fire.

why and how does e-85 cause this?

I know that can happen. I have had a ####ed up injectors before and all that did was make my car idle extremely rough and wouldnt go no where LOL. Im almost 100% sure its spark issues or something causing my CAS to shit one me. Cause it got spark this morning then just stopped and kept turning over!

E-85 is corrosive. Nothing in our fuel system is alcohol compliant. That picture there was determined to be a <del>liquefied </del> rubber piece under the walbro pump.

I live in Missouri, and there has been no issues with E85 being corresive! Iv already read all about it!

Your assuming its a spark issue. When it doesn't start, see if it has spark. If not wiggle the cas plug and repeat. If it does start, attempt to move stuff and make it not spark.

Corrosive might not be the proper term, but is is more damaging to a fuel system than gasoline is. It is known to dissolve rubber and plastic parts at a rate higher than gas. It will turn the rubber of a walbro to goo,as seen a few times , not first hand though. also as far as ethanol is concerned it is also electrically conductive, and "technically needs a special fuel pump" though we've proven that to not really matter short term.

"Methanol and ethanol contain soluble and insoluble contaminants.[5] Halide ions, which are soluble contaminants, such as chloride ions, have a large effect on the corrosivity of alcohol fuels. Halide ions increase corrosion in two ways: they chemically attack passivating oxide films on several metals causing pitting corrosion, and they increase the conductivity of the fuel. Increased electrical conductivity promotes electrical, galvanic and ordinary corrosion in the fuel system. Soluble contaminants such as aluminum hydroxide, itself a product of corrosion by halide ions, clogs the fuel system over time. To prevent corrosion the fuel system must be made of suitable materials, electrical wires must be properly insulated and the fuel level sensor must be of pulse and hold type (or similar). In addition, high quality alcohol should have a low concentration of contaminants and have a suitable corrosion inhibitor added."

Ill make this quick, Aaron and I spent most of the day playing with my GSX thinking I wasnt getting spark. Well that was not the problem, I have spark, fuel pressure! But not one of my injectors are firing! Change the Injector Trans pack on the fire wall and nothing changed there either. So as of now I am completely lost! Help would be appreciated!

Played a little with it earlier, Got on dsmlink and turned all my injectors off, turned em back on and boom they sprayed. Idk if all of them did but from what I could see they did! Turned it over again and bam now they arent spraying again. Repeated step one and still wont spray again. So Im having some kind of electrical issues, leaning towards the ecu!

Were the caps in the ecu ever replaced? Open up the ecu and see if the caps are leaking.

You can see black goo, and they smell of rotting seafood.

Bad quality pic I know, but its the best I could find quickly. (thats not a 1g ecu btw)

How to Replace 1g ECU caps

I'm officially confused.

You think thats it , but you don't? ... does...not...compute.

EDIT** did you carry the same link chip over between ecus?

Well, the car make random weird beeps and noise in the car touching gas or brake or clutch..but not every time. I think its somethign in the wiring behind the radio? something i dont know or just the ecu its self. Iv had 3 different ppl look at the ecu and tell me the caps are fine and nothing is burnt! And I never said I dont think its the ecu!

Random mpi relay clicking is an indicative sign of ecu cap failure. Along with rotten seafood, unless it the girly freind :hmm:..:barf: ROFL.

I'm helping a another member with a similar issure on a 2g, It is hard to diagnose, and even more so over the computer.

Now, thats just stupid. I told you to stop ASSuming, and you wasted time anyways. What are we going to do with you?!

2 of the 3 ppl that has looked at the ecu know a shit ton about them, fix em all the time! And I have went through everything that you have said and everyone else. Im completely lost and just thinking its wiring in the dash. And I dont know were to start!

If you can make the injecotrs work. The injecor wiring should be good.
If it sparks, then it should have a working cas.
**try taking the cas out, with the key on,and spinning it to see if the injecors fire that way.

And for the 3rd time. :Did you carry the same ecmlink chip over between the good ecus?

That's BS if you don't post some kind of proof ...

Even then nearly 4 years and I've never had a single problem with Black goo,My walbro 255hp or any of the stock lines... :thumb:

Also FYI I'm sure Walbro would be quite interested to know that E85 "liquefied" one of their pumps. Being they were having people years ago send their pumps in that had been running E85 for years to test them.Look around on NASIOC if you have any doubts about this ...

This is just speculation on my part but I believe that its from the suppliers:)

OP I would suggest to check for continuity from the ecu to your CAS wiring just to rule out a break in the signal...

HAHA Sorry I knew I was forgeting to mention something in the last post. And no I didnt carry the same chip over. I dont wanna #### up my ecu or my buddies. Ill be the first to admit Im a retard when it comes to electrical shit and ecu's

And at answering basics questions LOL

You really need to find someone local that is very good with this stuff, I can't explain auto electric theory LOL.

When you make your way down to post 10, and read that, I Imagine your foot will be well lodged in your mouth.

I didn't say it was acid. It is corrosive, with corrosion inhibitors.

WTFWho said acid?

Your a smart guy:ohdamn: and you can imagine all you want but it's not gonna happen:rolleyes: if you would like I can go edit the quote you butchered out of the wikipedia...:shhh:

If you can't graspe what I'm saying since I don't think you even graspe what it said... .A quote for the wikipedia isn't proof of anything.OMG

I suggest you take the time to read what I said...

Also FYI almost ever FI car since the 80's has been designed to tolerate Ethanol in the Fuel

Have any ideas of his clicking, random noises and his 3 ecu that are good, that he thinks are bad, unless you ask if their bad?

Not the pump, a rubber bushing under the pump. maybe it want even from walbro who knows.
