Cam Install ?'s

Im bout to install some hks 272's into my 95 tsi thats been swapped with a 93 turbo head and was wondering if i will need new springs and retainers or if the stockers will be fine for now. Ive bent a valve already thats why i swapped to the 1g head and would hate to screw it up floating a valve but ive never had experience with cams in a 4g63. thanks for any help.

Also what kind of gains would you expect from these cams? Ive got a tubular manifold, ported 1g head. 64mm tb thats bout to go on with a ported intake to match the tb, an exhaust and running 15psi on the stock turbo. Any educated guesses? I know theyll come more into play with a bigger turbo but im gettin them in a trade. thanks again

You do not need any valve train work to run 272's. I just installed mine. As for the horsepower part, Every car is different, And every car responds different to mods, Your mods will play in part with what the cams will do for you. The only true way you would be able to find the actual power you recieved, Is by doing a before and after dyno run.

It's only a Matter of time before your valve's float! I would highly recommend new valvesprings for such aggressive cams

272's are not really aggressive cams though. ALOT of people have been running straight 272's for a very long time on the stock valvetrain.

well, Depending on his use for the motor, If it's his daily driver better safe than sorry

If you try and rev 272's to 8000 RPM every day then yes, you'll float valves on the stock springs, but if the car is driven responsibly, aftermarket springs aren't a necessity. Besides, the 272 really isn't that aggressive.
