420A cam bracket missing

hey there guys need some help i just bought my first 2g 420a eclipse it came with a bunch of extra stuff that i have no idea what to do with . But anyways it came with a head that had been port and polished how ever the brackets that hold the camshaft in place are missing for the head. Can i use the bracket from another head or is the port and polish head now junk because they are missing? Thank you guys in advance for helping me out.

Yes, you can use cam tower caps from another head, but you'll need to take them to a machine shop and get everything checked out, and possibly machined.

Personally, I wouldn't use a head that had cam tower caps from another head; But that's just me.

Hey guys sorry for not getting back to you thanks for the replys im using stock cams at the moment. Going to take the head to a machine shop to see if they can make me some bridges but might just scrap the head and get another one ported and polish. Dont want any problems.

If you put cam caps from a different head on all you have to do is have them checked and at worst have it align honed. Probably cost about the same to have another head port and polished and looked over as having your current head align honed if that is all that is wrong with it.

Things I would consider.
Is the port and polish a good job/professional or just a novice?
Does the head need valve guides?
Does it need surfaced?
Just go down the list of what it needs including the align hone and compare that to doing the work you want on a different head.

I can't stand people that sell block caps separate from the block, cam caps separate from the head, etc. unless the head/block was junk.
