I have a 1992 Talon TSi and my dad and I was told that if we take off the tube that goes from the by pass valve (blow off valve) and cap it off where it goes back into turbo that it would make an awesome sound when you let off the gas..the psss sound..we done that and it sounded awesome..but one problem..it killed my ideling..it would idel so low that the car would cut off and we finally ended up having to put the tube back on..does any one know how to fix this or how to get that psss sound without spending $200.00 for a real blow off valve..if you do please please let me know as soon as you can :talon:

Use the search button and search vented BOV. You will find every post says not to do it like that. This is the biggest no no in dsm world. To vent and get the sound you want you need to buy a MAF translator and a gm MAF meter. You are dumping air already metered by the MAf and this causes the car to go rich and die on you among other things. Venting= :nono::notgood: :toobad:  among other things. Keep the hose hooked up until you can do it correctly.

That is what you need and a gm MAF and different intercooler piping.

^ all the info you need.

Its gonna be over $200 to get the setup you want for that special sound.

Moral : Lets not worry bout sounds, mmk?

You could get an ebay BOV for about $30, rig it up so that it's closed at idle, and vent it. That's less than $200, but you're still going to foul the plugs like mad. If you weren't smart, and you were addicted to that sound (more than you are addicted to your car running right), you could go that route. This is the way my car was setup when I purchased it, and I HATE it. Smoke out the tailpipe on every shift, wasting perfectly good gas... *bleh*

Otherwise, it's going to be expensive, and you will need to do it right. Giddyup!

If your really into it just for the psshht sound you can get an electronic BOV. Be prepared for two things though:

1. you will be harassed by every serious car enthusiast

2. you will attract the attention of every Honda in the vicinity that has the only two mods they ever do: intake and exhaust, and possibly body kit, usually unpainted...

Since vacum me opens the BOV when the throttle shuts, Im curious as to how this could be "RIGGED" up. You dont want vac. to open it at idle but only when you let off the gas. Doesnt seem possable.

I have this big ass outlet on my BOV sort of like the magnavox BOV i can't find a tubing big enough to go around the outlet.... any suggesitons...my car is automatic if that makes any difference...
