Buzzing noise

What, in the passenger floorboard area, would cause a buzzing noise when attempting to start a 96 TSi? The car does not turn over, and the last time it was started was a push-start.

just throwing it out their... i know eclipse's have an infinity sound system installed to the cars stock and the amp for this is under the passenger side seat. so check that out and see if the sound is coming from there

It may be a long shot but if you don't have your fuel pump re-wired then it could be that. Our fuel pumps don't kick on without us engaging the starter

Infinity system long since removed, and it has started by a push start. It wouldn't start that way the other day, but it has been sitting for a while now.

Both the MFI and fuel pump relays are inside the right hand stay on passenger side - see pic:

I feel like a moron, but not totally because I don't really have the facilities to work on a car very much. It was apparently a loose connection at the starter. We did get it started by a push start, and over to a friends house where he took a look at it today and figured it out.

Also, had an overheating problem that I was sure was another failed thermostat, so we removed it and the overheating problem is gone, and surprisingly I still have heat.

I will however keep in mind those 2 relays for the future. I was suspecting relays beforehand, but were unsure if any were in that area.

Replace your starter motor
