Was curious if anyone has heard this noise.

Was driving home from work with the car warmed up when out of the blue it started making this really loud buzzing noise coming from what sounded like the head of the engine. After doing some driving I noticed the noise was only consistent in the lower RPMs when at idle. Got it to my buddies place and we removed the power steering belt to find the noise was still persistent. Drove it back home and let it cool down overnight.

Started it up today to find the noise was gone under 1000 rpms roughly (I don't have a working tach), between 1000-2000 it would make that noise, anything over 2000 and it would be fine.

My question is has anyone heard this and know the fix? I will be removing the serpentine belts hear shortly to see if one of my accessories fixes the issue.

Bit of background about the car, it has zero tick lifters that were installed 100 ish miles ago, haven't been driving it much.

So I'm no expert, but it definitely looks like the hydraulic tensioner blew, there is no way I should be pushing down on this with my fingers. Thanks @steve !

That's toast , you avoided rebuilding your head . Good find . My original post got deleted or didn't send for some reason . What tensioner is that? Even when mine failed I could compress it but not like that . I'm doing the washer mod next belt Job.

If you reused the tensioner you gotta go slow with the vice to compress it
