Ok so I'm finally going to do some small upgrades I'm going to buy my 1st cat back really soon probably next month I have about $600 save right now and I'm try to find out witch exhaust to go with ? I really want a exhaust that sounds really good with a deep tone and also one that tilts to the side I see them on Gsx & on my car Gst models how do you know if are buying one that leans or tilts to the side ? Someone at my job said that hks and greddy turbo cat backs dose that but I notice their is s bunch different types of greddy and hks exhaust so witch should I go with or look for please help

Leave the stock catback and spend the money on an electric cutout.

I'm just throwing an option out there I'm not saying get it. But why spend 600 bucks on an exhaust when u can spend 100-200 on one then get other goodies like a boost controller and a bigger turbo?

Well because I keep hearing different opinions from friends and very hard to make a choice hahaha but Yes I would like do a lot more then just a exhaust I need to still buy boost controller and air intake and as far as turbo gose I going to buy one next year as soon as I finish paying my car off I brought it from use car lot so the turbo will be next year tax return :D

When I bought my 95 AWD, it had a 3in muffler shop exhaust with a hideous "autozone special" tip that stuck out the back damn near a foot. I bought a Megan muffler and took it to my local muffler shop to have the abortion fixed. The guy cut of the crappy muffler and held up the Megan muffler and asked me where I wanted it. I got a nice slant and it is tucked perfect to my taste. He routed the pipe to where I told him the muffler should go and welded it all up...done deal $50. The sound was awesome and I got the slant I liked...Maybe look into having an exhaust built to how you want it.

I'm more than impressed with my exhaust from dejon powerhouse. full o2 back exhaust for what many charge for a catback.

Are you dead set on a "catback" exhaust? I'm going to build my exhaust. I'm gonna get a 3" straight piece of stainless piping, weld a senator, and dump it right at about the back seats. Gonna cost about 45 or 50 bucks out the door. Just my opinion. I was gonna run open downpipe but decided to quiet it down a bit.

Yeah I am cops where I live are real jerks and they pull people over a lot for exhaust that are too loud and I want to be legal and stealth I don't want to draw too much intention to myself a friend told me they won't bother me as much with a full cat

Wow good price !!! And angled too !!! :thumb: thank you !!!

Here's some reading on the quiet systems if you'd like.

Yeah, that looks to be an angled one too. :thumb:

:hellyeah::D:thumb: i like both

thank you my friend so a resonator helps keeps the noise level down not sure if I read everything right ? I also read something about a silencer too helps but do you loose power from having one on the muffler ?

This is the Complete system that I run & I couldn't be more happier sound's awesome & also look's awesome imo.Forced Performance Racing Exhaust Manifold,S.S.Tubular Recirculated O2 Housing,Borla 2 1/2inch Downpipe,OBX High-Flow 2 1/2inch S.S.Cat,SR-S 3inch S.S. Cat-Back Exhaust.

So far the apexi n 1 and thermal R&D are the best sounding ones I like but the thermal one I don't think is angled got to do some more research on both of them thank you everyone for your feed back really happy with you guys help

I've heard too many negative things about the Apex'i cat-back so I would stay away from that personally. There have been threads on here where people complained of the back of the muffler rusting out very easily and I remember daren_p (a wiseman on here) saying that the resonators on the Apex'i N1 do not have a 3" inner diameter and are a restriction. I've not personally used the Apex'i exhaust so I can't vouch for any of that personally, but I'm just letting you know.

That's a bummer ! I really like the sound of the apexi n1 I guess I could go with the hks one its angled too looks almost the same also

Agreed. I met a guy with a Thermal R&D on his gst. It sounded absolutely amazing. I also like how they angle the exhaust tip so it comes out straight instead of slanted. I WILL have one on my car...someday.

Agreed. I have the N1 on my GS-T and the Thermal on my TSi. I like the sound of both, but the Thermal just has a throatier, "meaner" type of sound. Throw a race-pipe on there like I have and it just rumbles...then when you put your foot down, it's pure sex to my ears.

They both look great coming out of the back of the car too. The N-1 has the slight upward angle and the Thermal is pretty much straight out back.

you could order a vibrant muffler 3 inch in and 3 out for about 110, and have a quality muffler shop mandrel bend you a custom cat back. I i had a custom exhaust mad from the turbo back without a cat or a resonator with the vibrant muffler, Vibrant Performance ::. part number 1147 every thing all together from the turbo back was 450. mine is quit with out a resonator you could put one in to help quieten it down a bit but i dont think you would need it. you could get that done for around 300 all together without a cat or resonator.

I bought a punishment racing downpipe. I then went to a muffler shop here in town owned by an individual, not one of the national chains. He put my downpipe on and fabbed the rest of the exhaust with a Magnaflow turbo muffler for $172.00. the exhaust is 3" and he even made me a race pipe. It sounds great. No rice at all. I will never understand why us DSMers will pay 600.00 for exhaust system. That would leave you a bunch of money left over to put towards other mods.
Just my 2 cents.

Good Luck
Regards
Greg

Another of those answered thread.:ohdamn:
And yeah I don't mind spending the extra cash for the name. That's just how I roll LOL.
My HKS just came in yesterday. Here, it angles out and tilts somewhat up for that JDM look yo!
My son's leg got caught in my last picture LOL.

If I were you I would do turbo back because to me it will sound better overall and a cat back is inefficient meaning you’re still not allowing your car to exhale fully meaning you won’t be gaining much hp. And as far as exhaust systems go I’m an Apexi N1 guy!

Now obviously your sound will differ with the mods you do. Good luck and let us know what you get

Well, me personally dont like the angled out exhuast systems. One because cops get really "bugged out" by them. Just gives them another reason to pull you over. Right now I have an apexi N1 turbo back, If I would get another exhuast I would just get custom 3" piping and then this muffler Just because it is black and stealth and nice looking almost stock. :sneaky: From personal experience, me an my dad have the HKS catback and N1 catback. The hks is more deep and better looking imo. The n1 is just a not tilted as much as the hks one by just a tad. HKS is better looking to me with the burnt tip and deeper if your looking into tilted exhuast systems. Just have to pay to play if you want the best imo.

Apex N1 is my favorite exhaust system for these cars. It's been proven on the dyno and when coupled with an Apex Downpipe, it fits better than a stock exhaust system. I got mine used for $300 and it was in surprisingly good condition.
