Hello. I'm buying a 97 GST tomorrow. It has 100k miles, but only 600 on a newly rebuilt engine. The current owner doesn't speak English well. My gf speaks Spanish fluently, but doesn't know automotive terms (turbo boost, crankwalk, etc etc), so I don't really know how to ask him about the specifics of the rebuild. He assures us that the car is in perfect working condition and is able to drive anywhere (I'm picking it up in Dallas and driving to Austin... scary).
My question is... does anyone know a reputable DSM mechanic in Austin that I can take it to have checked out?
Also, how can I tell the rebuilt engine is done well and is still characteristic of a 97 GST?
The main purpose of the GST I'm buying is to be my daily driver, but I'm actually very excited about it. I think it's quickly going to go from my daily driver to my project car...
I definitely want to get the GST into decent enough condition to take it to some HPDEs.
Thanks for the info.
