Hey guys!

I have been out of the DSM game for awhile now, and I am so glad to be buying a bone stock, clean 99' GSX tomorrow!

This will be a project car for me. I am not going to be trying to push 400+hp anytime soon. This will be a slow, and steady build.

I was curious about a where I should start? Injectors, turbo back, 16g turbo? I am needing advice on a parts path, that wont break the bank!

Any help would be awesome,

Kevin

I would start with doing all the proper maintenance before anything.

O yes. He said it was running a little hot when the AC was on. Gauge would go to 3/4 with AC, but mid without. I was going to flush the radiator, and obviously do an oil change. The motor / Tranny / 14b turbo was rebuilt 6k miles ago.

^^

As said. Complete timing belt kit, water pump, change all fluids on car, and replaced other worn out parts as you find them such as suspension, ect.

Make sure the A/C condenser fan is coming on when turning on the A/C.

I will have to ask him if the timing belt got replaced when they did the rebuild. I will not be doing any upgrades for awhile. I do not want this car going to crap anytime soon haha.

I will check this out. I asked him about the thermostat, and he said he put a 195 in there. I know a 180 "should" go in there.

Just go with a OEM thermostat in there. No need to get fancy about it. Once you get the routine maintenance up to par, here's a nice list to work with. Knock those freebies first :)

No problem man, but please search google or the forum before asking these questions. I found that in about 7 seconds. :thumb:

Good luck with the ride

Good luck with her. After you do all the maintenance stated above and she all checks out, that's when the fun begins. What kind of power do you want to make?
