Buschur underdrive pulley

Anyone know how much it weighs? Just wondering but if I'm gonna pay $350 for the dang thing, it should be pretty light and be worth my $$$$$. Thanks!

It only weighs 1-2 pounds less then the stock balancer-but its also a underdrive pulley and it'll never seperate like the stock ones can. At best I would say it adds 5 hp and helps the motor rev a little quicker.

I have a Buschur UD pulley. It weighs 1/2 pound less than the stock pulley. I was still able to feel a slight power gain with it.

1/2 pound less?!?!? I just can see the justification in spending $350 for an underdrive pulley for that amount of weight and that small of an amount of horsepower. May as well just buy a new stock pulley unless there's something i'm missing. I WOULD just buy an unorthodox pulley if it wasn't for the issue of vibration. If i had a built 2.0 liter, I'd probably go ahead and get it, but I'm hearing that vibration with strokers is more of an issue to be concerned about. Anyone wanna chime in? About to send off my crank to Buschur to get knife edged and balanced and need to decide what pulley I wanna go with it. Might just be stock if the Buschur pulley if the performance gains aren't worth the money...

Because you do not get underdrive pulley to reduce rotating weight. That can be much easier accomplished with a light fly wheel. You get UNDERDRIVE pulley to reduce engine load from accessories.

and that small of an amount of horsepower.

What is age old question, what are you willing to pay for 5-10hp? If you have a DSM, half of PSI of boost will give that much power, so many people say: “why bother”?

However, if you have a Honda (or any other NT car for that matter), you are stuck with “nickel and diming” every HP you can find, so you are pretty much have to use some sort of an underdrive pulley.

As for people claiming to “feel the extra power” from the underdrive pulleys, I am sure that they are feeling something, but most of it is a placebo effect.

You need 10-15% power increase to actually feel something. On a 300hp DSM that would be 30-45hp and I have never seen pulley that claimed that much power increase.

But you might be able feel it on 140hp NT car

Actually, I've been thinking about this very thing. Forgot about the "underdriving" I'd get but thoguht about it later. Duh me. Anyway, I've been contemplating getting it anyway cause I'm about to send out my crank to get knife edged. I just didn't bother to post and update my thoughts on this yet though. The main thing is that it is SFI approved... Meaning wont go to pieces. Kind of like an SFI approved flywheel vs a non SFI....

I wish more MFGs made them.. I would'nt even mind a non underdrive version as you can chose which accessories to underdrive or not at the accessory pulley...

I would underdrive the PS but not the water pump for example..

I had tried doing some research on these things but just didn't see much about them other than people just complaining about the cost. Looking at Extreme's website, they have an aluminum one for about the same price as the one Buschur's. Heck, maybe it's just the same one. I dunno, if I'm able to get it I'll for sure post pics of it and the best review I can. Although of course I'll be throwing in a stroker crank, Shep tranny, Magnus intake, cams, etc. etc. in all at the same time, it's easy enough to just swap out the pulley for the stock one to see the difference it makes.

The Buschur underdrive pulley is really a Fischer Concepts pulley. I have one and bought it not because it's light and not because it's an underdrive pulley but because it's a superior damper.

These are pics of their EVO8 damper..

The crank timing gear will be the same but the damper will have the DSM 2 belt pulley as opposed to the single.

We have a prototype 4g63 EVO8 damper that is currently in testing and are working on 1g and 2g applications for both 2.0 & 2.4L motors.

The stock Mistubishi timing gear did not allow us to secure an effective damper to the stock mounting points so we have manufactured a custom timing gear which allows us to mount the damper more securely.
