Well I just got a new car ( old one got crashed ) and I want to do and exhaust soon. Iwas looking at the Buschur 2.5 in cat-back exhaust, 2.5 in Hi-flow cat, and 2.5 in downpipe. I this a good exhaust? What type of gains can I expect from a full 2.5 inch exhaust, with a 14b at 15psi? Also will boost creep be a possibility? And is MachVMotorsports a good company to deal with?

not much of a gain.....you want a 3" turbo back (meaning 3" dp, 3" cat inlet and outlet, and 3" cat back. 3" really opens up the exhaust for turbo cars which means more air can come in the car faster adn leave the car even faster thus making more power. More power = :rocks:

machv looks like a good company to me, but buschur would probably have them for cheaper, seeing as they are the people who make them...

yeah I just noticed that. Is buschur a good company to deal with? And as the guy above said will I really not see that much of a gain from a full 2.5 exhaust?

If you plan on doing some serious modifications later on down the road (400hp or more) you'll want to go with a 3" exhaust system.

I was originally planning the same setup you just mentioned in 3"
3" downpipe
3" catalytic converter
3" stainless steel mandrel bent catback

They quoted me at like $980 for the full exhaust system, don't remember what shipping would have been. Buschur Racing is a wonderful company, they're out in the DSM community throwing shootouts and such. I also believe they're a sponsor for the website.

Shepherd's talon runs a Buschur Racing exhaust system, from the last I saw. I believe it was larger though.

Do you have any other plans for your car, or do you just want the exhaust for sound/looks/little power gain?

Well the stock exhaustr on my new Talon is rusted out and the flex pipe is ripped in half, so I figure why not upgrade. Im gonna put on a 16g ( Evo III ) with supporting mods and maybe go for 300-325 whp, and leave it there. The sound isn't really a concern other than I don't want it really loud, just a deep smooth tone. I was looking to spent $600 or so for the full exhaust. I thought a full exhaust on turbo cars adds a decent amount of power ( 15-20 hp ) since it lets the engine breath better. What amount of power can I expect from a full 2.5 inch exhaust with a ported O2 housing? 5-10 hp?

If you're still on the 14b, you won't notice any difference between a 2.5 and a 3" exhaust. But the difference vs. stock is something that you will feel. If I were you, just get the 3" since it isn't much more expensive, and is there in case you ever decide to get a massive turbo. :) Oh, and Shep doesn't run the Buschur exhaust anymore (I know he used to have the 3.5" exhaust on there), but now it exits right in front of the front passenger tire.

Buschur Racing is rock-solid - don't worry at all about dealing with them.

Mandrel-bent 2.5" exhaust is fine for about 80% of the people out there. Like Templisk said, if your planning under 400 HP, no need to go 3". But like Dream On said, a full 3" isn't that much more expensive, and you never know when the HP bug will bite...

We like to think that we are a good company. LOL We have been making performance parts for DSM's for over thirteen years and and we are very experienced with these cars.

As far as the 2.5 goes it will depend on how much you are planning to put into the car in the future if you are gonna keep it stockish I would say yes a 2.5 is fine, if you plan on upgrading than you will want to go with a full 3" turbo back exhaust.

I tell you what pm me and I will see what I can work out for you.

A 2.5" exhaust is good for upto 400hp. If you are planning on going over that I would recommend to jsut start out with the 3". To avoid boost creep you will need to get a largr w/g flapper installed in your turbo. If you guys have any other questions please feel free to ask. Take care,

Will I have boost creep with a full 2.5 inch exhaust and if so how can i go about fixing boost creep without getting a different wastegate flapper.

You will not have any problem with creep with a 2.5" exhaust. I would personally perfer a 3" if you are wanting to further mod the car. Turbo's like to breath.

The larger flapper is the only way to eliminate creep. It not really that hard to do. If you would like to send the turbo in we will port out the hole and install the larger flapper for $100.

i have 2.5" turbo back with high-flow cat, pushing 15psi on the 14b, everything else stock... no boost creep at all.

I have the 2.5" SS MAndrel DP and Catback buschur with a Catco hi-flow cat, its amazing, Sounds mean as hell without looking like a Coffee can. Flows beautifully and gives nice power. 2.5" is plenty of exhaust unless you are planning on going real high HP

I have to disagree with the not much of a gain statement :) When I put my exhaust on I felt a big difference especially on the highway 3rd and 4th gear pulls :rocks:

My small 16G with Buschur 2.5" and CAT used to creep to 23+psi before hitting fuel cut. Though rare, does happen. :)
