Okay so I heard my engine ticking today so I checked my oil and saw it was relatively low...Like a cm below the 1st notch on the dipstick.. so anyways I filled it back up took about a quart. Anyways my question is why am I burning this much oil off? I just changed the oil about 600 miles ago and already it's this low? I notice there's a small amount leaking out of the headgasket which I will fix soon but also I have noticed when my turbo spools up past the half way mark on the stock boost gauge it starts to smell like it's burning oil.. is this possible? Its a nasty smell.. Idk any help would be great... as for seeing black smoke out the exhaust or blue I really don't see any even when I get up on it..

1. How are you pcv and breather routed?

2. If the PCV is still routed back to the IM, when was the last time you changed the PCV?

3. Have the dipstick pop out lately? Oil out of the oil cap besides the leak at HG?

4. Check the turbo oil return line, make sure it isn't clogged or kinked.

5. Pull the intake pipe and check for shaft play then pull the LICP and check or oil.

Perhaps you valce stem seals in your head are gone...this could cause you to burn oil.
Did you mean your head gasket or valve cover gasket....i wouldnt be worrying about burning oil if my hg was leaking, thats first priority.. good luck man

Okay so anyways today I was driving down the road and a friend of mine followed me.. So I got on the throttle a bit.. everytime the boost gauge got over about half it started to smell funny and there was black smoke coming out of my exhaust pipe... I am also losing a lot of power...A little bit of a discription on what I've just done to my car... I added a 3" exhaust from DP back and I haven't ported the o2 sensor housing so chances are my boost is creeping. However I don't have my boost gauge installed yet so I'm just going by my stock one..I put greddy upper and lower intercooler pipes and an air intake on it that's it.. help me please :( the car only has 88k on it should I change the plugs and pcv valve?

Well yes man you should tune it up before spending money on exhaust.

Have you ever looked at the upgrade path? Tuneup is first, then Boost gauge, exhaust is AFTER those things.

As it stands, you will probably be replacing the turbo soon. And keep an eye on your oil from now on.

If you're seeing black smoke, that indicates you're running very rich. This might be due to a boost leak (air the MAS measured isn't getting to the motor, but the ECU is adding fuel for it). Since you added new IC piping, you may very well have boost leaks.

And do everything oldman suggested.
