Burning oil bad

Im burning oil realy bad and I cant figure out why. I think that it has something to do with my 1st cylinder because after i shut off my car and pull my plugs to check and see whats going on and there is smoke coming out of my 1st cylinder. i checked my compression and it looks where it was before. Any ideas? also i have an oil leak and i dont know where but i changed my oil and its been doing ever since.

Possible that you have some bad valve stems, or pistons rings are going out.

How much oil does it use ?

Oil leak, is it leaving puddles on the ground?

Yeah what he said valve steam seals or piston rings. It all can be checked with a leak down tester or take the shrader valve out of your compression tester and pressurized the cylinder and try to hear where the air is coming out just make sure you have all the valves closed for that certain cylinder.

I just did a leak down test and i found that is actually my 3 cylinder that has an 80% leak. it has to be my rings then right? anything else that it can be? also i was at TDC when i was doing the test. just though i would say that out right because I know someone is going to ask

If it has 80% find where all the air is escaping to.
I would think with that much leakdown it would have a misfire as well.

I found that it is comming out of the 1 cylinder. what could cause that? also i had the spark plugs out when i was trying to find where the leak was i dont know if that matters or not.
