Burning Oil... Bad for HP???

There is a lot of blue smoke coming from my exhaust. Especially when engine has been restarted after running the engine it and turning off. Im thinking the only way to fix it is to tear the whole engine down and get new valve seals or rings or whatever is causing it. Thats a big job and Im poor and I just wanna know if this oil burning is hurting my horsepower. I dont mind the smoke if it doesnt hurt my power and im good for inspection for a while also so thats no an issue. Anyone know if this is slowing me down?

So long as your priorities are straight.

The motor's worn out. At least valve guide seals, perhaps piston rings as well. You can replace the valve stem seals fairly easily. You should run a compression check and/or a leakdown.

Diesels seem to get pretty good power out of burning oil.

if im losing compression can i just turn up the boost to compensate. less compression = less knock with high boost maybe i can be even more ghetto fabulous

You usually lose compression because your rings are going, and turning the boost even higher puts more stress on your rings.

You compression doesnt just get lower it leaks by the rings becasue they dont seal well. Turning up the boost will just push more boost past the rings. Do a leak down test and see were the leakage is comming from. That will tell you if it is rings or valve seals.
