so i had my car running for a little while the other day with me sitting in it on the phone..maybe like 15 or 20 minutes..then when i go to take off, i see this puff of blue smoke some out from behind me, so i stop the car and look under it and under the hood..no leaks anywhere..any ideas what it could be?

Is your pvc still hooked up? It sounds like there is oil puddling up. It could be turbo seals, valve stem seals, or just your pvc. Valve seals have the tendancy to show when you let it set for awhile and start the car and blue smoke comes out.

so what should/can i do about it if its valve seals? and why does it burn only after sitting for a while like that

I would start by doing a compression test and checking your turbo for play those two are easy enough to do and that will rule out the turbo and piston rings at least. I had valve seals go a little while ago and it would smoke continuously after it got warmed up so I don't think that's your problem, actually all of them but the pvc valve should smoke continuously so that could likely be your problem... I'm not sure how you would check that but if you do a search that would come up. good luck..

Endeffect is right, check your compression or leave in 4th up hill to see if you have loss of power, check these for ring problem if all seem good then its most likely your valve stem seals, its a shame but mitsus are just notorius for valve seal problems. i have had a 1g and 2g and BOTH have done it at idle, even my friends mirage does it.
