bumping when at consistant speed

hey i just purchased a 2g turbo automatic, and im trying to figure out what tis problem is, when im at normal speed like everyday driving its like misses or hesitates and if i watch the tach i see the rpms drop and go back up it will like pop 2 times and the rpm will bump down and up. and their is no hesitation at acceleration, boost kicks in fine and everything

any advice would help

Have you looked at your coil pack there are some black oval looking caps on it . If they gigle loose or fall of i have seen them cause this .

when my intercooler was unhooked, so check for turbo leaks all around. What will happen is our car thinks its getting more air and gas so it lets its rev higher then there no more gas so it pops and your rpms dip.

Just a guess but my car did the exact same thing.

Chris,

I would start by looking at the obvious:

1. Boost leak test
2. New plugs and wires
3. New fuel filter
4. Check coil packs
5. Have any trouble codes pulled on a scanner.

Most missing is caused by fuel or spark related problems, but changing plugs and wires is an easy and cost effective way to rule this out. So you can feel more comfortable, a plug and wire swap will usually fix an overwhelming majority of the driveability problems we experience.

If that doesn't solve it, stop by your local AutoZone and have them pull the OBDII codes. You could be experiencing random cylinder misfire issues relative to bad coils.

Let us know what you find.,

I will only add to Andy's post by saying that you should get NGK BPR6ES spark plugs and gap to .028". Don't use platinum plugs; our cars hate them.

thanks guys, and sorry i forgot to say i just changed the plugs and wires with NGK BPR6ES, and magna core 8.5 wires , along with a new fuel filter...also to add to the problems im getting horrible gass milage ..im sayin like 140-160 miles to a full tank of gas and this car is stock except for a cold air and suspension so im boggled, but i plan on doin a boost leak test tomorrow morning, it just sux cause it isn't throwing and CEL or n e thing Thanx again ill let u no after the boost leak test

hey guys just an update, i checked the boost leak and their was a small hole in a boost line, i ran a smoke test to find out..thanks for the help everyone
