I am trying to get everything on my front end aligned and I consistently have this same problem no matter what I do. The hood and the bumper do not will not line up properly. I have tried two different 2Gb Talon bumpers, two sets of headlights, two different front bumper mounting brackets, with and without the bumper support foam piece, and two different radiator supports actually (long story short I was sent a N/T support the first time). No matter what I do the bumper sticks out 15MM too far. If I shove the bumper back, the bolt holes do not line up. Everywhere else the bumper fits like a glove, except for this center area where it meets the hood and headlights. Any ideas to get this to line up correctly?

Have you tried flipping the Bumper support over? I believe the Notches should be on the bottom.
If worse comes to worse ditch the metal hold down, and slot out the holes, i'm assuming this isn't an OEM front bumper. It may just not fit right.

That gap between the bumper cover and hood looks pretty much normal to me too for a 2Gb Talon.

I have never seen one sit perfectly flush. That looks fine to me.

This cracks me up. My g/f had this 2G Eclipse and I was convinced it had once gotten into an fender bender because the hood and bumper weren't perfectly straight.

Guess this thread explains it LOL

That can't be normal. It looks excessive to me. And if I remove the bolts I can push it in to where it sits flush, and the hood and headlights line up perfect.

Googleing images of 2Gb Talons, I see some that look like shit (like mine), but I see some that seem to sit nice and flush. If push comes to shove I will cut 15mm out of this bracket, and weld it back together. It just looks tacky to me.

Don't cut anything Corey.
Tomorrow i will take pics of mine and my bros DSM's up close, and with a measuring tape.
I cant find my measuring tape right now and its too dark outside.

I have t two bumper brackets, so if I funk one up I can always just throw the other one on. Why do the 2Ga's fit so perfectly, but 2Gb's fit like ass?

Both Spyders of mine had th same exact issue as yours. I tested two bumpers, both stuck out. You can see it in my pic, <-

The gap may be intentional. Lexus did it with the LFA..

You know, I was actually thinking the exact same thing. I can see how it would make sense aerodynamically. BUT I still think it looks silly, and on a DSM I don't see it having any real gains.

On a side note, that LFA is now SICK machine. :thumb:

If I remember right on my 97 the bumper did stick out just a tad but yours does seem a lil excessive. But I'm not a auto body so what do I know LOL

Yeah, I would be ok with it sticking out a lil bit, but 15mm is excessive. It looks silly IMO. I'm going to try modifying one of my bumper supports and see how it goes.

I have this same issue and consistently fought with it for about and day. In the end, I gave up because I didn't want to drill or cut anything but mine definitely isn't as bad as yours.

If you fix it, post up it. I'd be interested to see before and after shots and how you did it.

EDIT: You can see in this picture that bumper sits nearly flush:

Here you go.

Now that i see it yours kinda sticks out a little more than normal.

Mine sticks out about half an inch = 12.7 millimeters.

If you are going to cut i will say to cut 3 Millimeters at the most.

Thanks for the pics Carlos. Yours lookes alot more flush than mine. Notice the headlight area on both yours and mine, It sits flush with your headleight, mine is sticking out 15mm there as well.

Well it can stick out 15 millimeters but you don't have to cut those 15 millimeters.

Mine sticks out 12.7 millimeters.

Your bumper needs minimum "adjustments"

I am starting to think that the new radiator support doesn't fit perfect. IMO

Is it's all oem I don't see why it is not flush..I have the same issue with my CF hood..It's oem style..But it's kinda nice to have that gap so you know xtra ait in getting in under the hood...I guess that's the only up side to not fitting correctly..

I think the radiator suppoort is fine. The last one had the exact same problem. 15mm out. Also if the rad support was off the hood wouldn't close right and the headlights wouldn't sit correctly either.

Is there some way to possibly shim up that passenger side so it's sits a litle more flush..Are you sure thae radiotor support, it level..Pull out your dads level and check it..

It could also be a warped bumper..Put all of your bumpers together and see if they droop down a bit on the passenger side..

Anyone in body work can tell you OEM doesn't mean you can bolt it up and have it fit right. Everything needs fine tuning.

The gap between the hood and bumper is fine. The hood is actually the problem there. the hood is dented toward the drivers side, and seems to bend upward on the passanger side. The problem is just the fact that the top of the bumper sits too far foreward. Also, the gap adjustment is nothing a few washers won't fix.
