I finally found time to finish my trans build and installed it last night. The setup is as follows. 1g w4a33 - welded center diff, kiggly billet basket, jeff bush rear basket , jeff bush transfer gears, ipt overdrive, shift kit, jeff bush oil pan, spoolinator convertor with a standard oil cooler setup. My goal is to get into the 9s. The only thing that has been holding me back is the damn torque converter breaking on me. Well see how long it last this time

What fluid? You probably answered in a different thread recently.

What trans coolers are you running? Where?

What are you using for trans roll stops?

Any catch can for the trans fluid filler tube? I've been debating on grabbing one.

I use a sythetic valvoline oil. For the oil cooler its the extreme psi kit that is mounted in the factory intercooler location. The jeff bush pan holds extra atf so im sure this will help. I have a bulfab front crossmember. Its a standard poly type. As far as goals.....I want 9s. The engine is making 600+ On e85, Shes got more in her though. I have another longblock sitting on a stand thats oringed. The only thing id like to improve is the fuel system. Im running fic 1650s with a twin 255 intank with a bosch pump inline. Im running 8an back to front. The real issue is the injectors. I feel like I could benefit with having 8 total. I had the 2150s but sold them because I didnt wanna worry about swelling seals. The 1650s are awesome injectors. My goal is 9s..... I will get there

So much want in that trans! I went the other route and built the transfer case first with a mild transmission build. I have the same goal of 9’s so let’s see who can get there first!

Any aftermarket bushings or braces on the driveshaft or differential?

What do people do about the planets? Just replace them?
Yeah, you’ll be fine if you don’t go bigger on the turbo.

I do recommend full tear down and inspection every year on single digit setups. You’ll be amazed what you find.

I learned more tearing apart high power setups before they broke and seeing the start of failure paths than building 100+ customer engines.

Im surprised noone made a billet planet setup.....Im guessing they dont go to often. I have 8 spare transmissions but these transmissions are running out.

Thats going to be an expensive piece of hardware. What about oil pumps? Im surprised noone has come out with a oil pump. I know their stout but we are all using used units. It would be nice to have a new unit

Off topic, have 0 wood working tools... nothing a hand saw can accomplish. New work bench. 3/8 steel top on the way

Solid trans setup that should be good for 8s. It’s as bullet proof as the next weakest link. Anything can be broken if you abuse it or not properly put it together.

You can have your gears and other metal parts go through cryogenic and shotpeen treatment. I was told it could last up to 20% longer.

OEM oil pump should be good for 8s as proven by many DSMs. It’s recommended to use straight cut gears and pre-lube it before you assemble. I packed the gears with Vaseline before assemble. I also used VR1 Synthetic 20W50 oil with high zinc content as suggested by many other experienced folks (assuming your clearance is properly accounted for). The next step up would be dry-sum setup or run the billet case. You can search around as the info is available.

These info are not new as you all know. Just sharing my experience. Good luck with the build and keep us posted on the results.
