whats up guys, had a curious question, I have a fully built motor Carillo rods, Wiseco's Pistons, Balance shaft eliminated, 1mm over valves, bronze guides, fully ported head, BC titanium springs retainers and 272/272 cams, is a better to go with a thicker oil? what is recommened? the motor has 7k miles on it, I was told 20w50 from a guy that called AMS who built his motor

I think you'll find that most guys with built high reving motors use a thick oil to help cusion the bearings and the oil pump gears.

I run Mobile1 15w-50 full syn.

I run 10-40 full synthetic AFTER BREAK-IN... Use conventional 10-40 for the break in.

I've been told all sorts of things on oils in turbo motors... Your turbo likes thin oil so it can get it passed through and back to the oil pan fast and keep the CHRA cool. BUt higher loaded bearings like a heavier oil so the forces from combustion don't "push" the oil out of the load surface under the power stroke (this is oly what i was told, no scientific data to back it up)

Darren at FFWDconnection told me that if you buy his motors you MUST run 20-50 or your warranty is void... then i've seen tons of write ups about using 20-50 being bad..

i just stick in the middle

It depends, WHO and HOW/ to what clearance/, your motor was built... Little loose, needs 20W50; tighter is like 10W30-10W40. That is why most of the newer cars run 5W20, or 0W 20, besides for emissions purpose.
I run 10W30 conventional oil and change it 800-1000 miles, period.

ok I have been running 10w30, I just wanted to make sure this motor last, I dont have a super aggressive its just an EVO3, but I have a setup to support a 35r once I get my DSMLINK
