Whats up guys? Well, I have common sense and I use the search feature before I post, but since I only found 1 link to my question...I decided to post. Anyways, I am currently using Pennzoil Synthetic 10w-30. Works great and it does the job well. But I currently got into a conversation with a friend of mine that is a drift addict. I saw a 5 qt Rotella T bottle sitting on his work bench. I asked about it and he told me some turbo drift guys like using Rotella because they have certain additives that keep the oil cleaner and have higher vistocity(spelling) and offer better turbo protection. And if you dont know, Rotella is used in Desiel motors. 15w-40 synthetic is what I see on the shelves and I've been considering doing the switch to see if there is a preformance difference. One thing I know about Desiel motors.....they last almost twice as long compared to gas engines, they run ALOT hotter compared to gas engines, and most of them don't have turbo timers and shut right off......go figure. So opinions and comments would be helpful. Thanks!:laser: And dont tell me its because they use iron block because guess what.....the 4G63 is a friggin iron block....besides the head.

I use rotella 15-40 in my dump truck but I dont know about in my car. try it and find out.

I use Rotella T in my motorcycles... I'd say stick with the viscosity that Mitsubishi recommends. And comparing diesel engines to gasoline engines is wrong on a lot of levels so I won't even start.

I USE ROTELLA T 15W-40 IN MY MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE NON TURBO. THAT IS WHAT THE GUY USED BEFORE ME SO I KEPT WITH IT. I ACTUALLY TRIED PUTTING IN MOBIL 1 10W-30 AND MY CAR STARTED SMOKING BAD. SWITCHED BACK TO ROTELLA T AND STOPPED SMOKING. SO YEA. ON MY GST TURBO ECLIPSE I USE GREDDY 5W-40 :sneaky:

Huh........I'm not getting a good feeling about it. I might just keep with the synthetic but go with a heavier weight. I've been using 10w-30 but the car is getting more miles racked up. I'll put 20w-40 or 20w-50....and of course.....I might put Valvoline or Mobile 1.

HOLY CAPS LOCK MAN!

I have a friend who mixes Rotella-T 15W-40 and Valvoline Synthetic 5W-40 in his bikes and his gsx...his car and bikes run awesome! But he doesn't reccomend using it in cold weather, I personally have yet to try it, I usually run Mobil One 5W-30 until it gets real warm out, then I switch to 10W-40.

Mixing 15w-40 and 5w-40 is not good. They are two different weights. It's like water and oil. Let alone mixing two manufacturer of the same type of oil is not good either.

10w-40 is for all around weather, 5w-40 hot weather.

I thought heavier weights are for hot weather because of the thinning of the oil when our turbo engines generate a huge amount of heat.

Well in any case your better off running olive oil than penzoil. I run Royal Purple 15w40 in my wreck and it works out great. Great oil pressure, its always got a nice flow of oil over everything, beauty.
