If you want to be 100% sure check the link below. It might be a 6 bolt I picked up my car and the last owner had no clue there was a 6 bolt inside.

yeah im looking at a stock black one i might be picking up friday(98 gst) and obviously planning to build it up. A 7 bolt is strong or what should i do?

Just run it until it crankwalks thats if it ever does. You can make some nice power with a 7 bolt too.

You'll be fine for now... Unless you plan on making HUGE numbers... (Or low ones) The engineers who made the engine were smart. People think the 7 bolt is a piece of crap for no reason. I trust my 7 bolt. When I blew it up (not crankwalk, but a spun bearing) i just rebuilt it. Now I trust it even more since I built it right.
How many miles?

I know two guys putting down over 400whp on a 7 bolt, there just more likely to crankwalk, but then again any engine can crankwalk. It's up to you there was a video of a guy a while back that tried to test the limits of a 7bolt and made over 500whp without a knock sensor but then he turned up the boost and blew the engine, but he was trying to blow it becuase he had a built one ready to go in. If you think you can take on the challenge or pay someone its up to you. Here's a link if you think you can do it yourself.

Drive it around first and see how you like it first before modding it.....as everyone above has said, there is plenty of power to be milked out of a 7bolt....

I agree a 7 bolt will be fine for a FWD daily driver. Buy the time you out enough money in to it to make that kind of power you will already be looking at other options, 2.3, ect.
