ok well where do i start im about getting ready to start buying my parts. i was thinking of probbally going with a 86 bore idk yet but i would like to know ### cams can i put ### head gasket because i saw that theres a cosmetic head gasket and a metal one which one is stronger. i also wanted to do cams and retainers at the same time cause more than likely if i put pistons and rods i prob need that? or ami wrong? otr should i keep my stock bore that i believe is 85 i think. well i have more questions but cant remember at the moment so if anybody could help me thank you very much.. :talon:
its a 6 bolt

No cams are not a must, but will defninitly help. What are your goals for the car? Boring it out will also depend on your goals.

ok well i want high power im definetly gonna keep my stock turbo for awhile. for my goals might not make that much sence but i want nice power with some top end but also some very good bottom end. idk if your understanding ### im trying to say LOL. but yea my later plans for a turbo might be a 20g or jus big 16g havent decided on that yet really. but in power wise i have to say 350 to prob 400 hp if not a bit more than 400 is it possible? thanks for the help

You can do that amount of horsepower on a stock block. Just throw in some cams and maybe a set of spring/retainers, get some arp studs and a good headgasket; and get your head surfaced. Put a new timing belt/bearings and a new water pump on and be set.

really? ok ut lets say i boost it up with those mods? i want thorwing out a piston? for the headgasket is the metal head gasket better or cosmetic one??

o i forgot im getting ready to either buy a new tranny from shep trans or get mines rebuilt? either or.

from what i've read as im rebuilding as well, most use mitsubishis metal head casket thats what i have with some arp's waiting for the return block. As for cams 272's will help ya, and for the trans, could't go wrong with a shep trans, unless your's is't going to cost that much to rebuild, but add in beefed up parts. good luck.

:thumb:cool i think i might do that instead cams head gasket and the retainers i saw a pretty good deal on extreme psi.com thanks for the help if anyone can help me even more thanks alot

Ugh. This thread is a headache.

The stock bottom end will be good for at least 400hp easily. You don't need new pistons or rods.
