well, that's what I'm trying to figure out... what that 2-3k goes to. I'm already planning to spend the money, I just want to know what it goes to, so that I'm not screwed by any shop... and for my own knowledge.

Post the items that you already have.
And what are you building it for? 1g 2g - just curious

I can tell you that I spent about $2800 on my 1G - (well spent) :)

Dont forget that you also might want to get your block cleaned, etc, which cost even more money!!

I plan on doing this too. I am building a 2G 4G63. Here's what I plan on doing.

1. Buy stock block and head. (DONE)
2. Have head and block rebuilt. (Local Machine Shop)
3. Buy:
Full Gasket Kit (eBay)
Head
Springs and Retainers (Brian Crower BC0100)
Stage 3 Cams 280/280 (Brian Crower BC0102)
**NOTE: Longer duration profile, added rpm potential. Intended for fully built engine. Tuning and ECU mods recommended.
GReddy Intake and Exhaust Cam Gears (Intake:13533301 and Exhaust:13533301)
GReddy Timing Belt (Part #:13534500N)
Intake and Exhaust Valves (Brian Crower BC3104 and BC3105)

**NOTE: When installing these valves, you can use the factory supplied valve seats, but you must have a valve job to ensure proper sealing.
ARP Head Studs

Block
Stroker Kit (Brian Crower BC0109)
**NOTE: Stroker kit designed for late model and Evo 7 bolt. Go to a 2.4L with 86mm bore. Kit includes 4340 billet 102mm crank, Econo rods, custom pistons made to your desired bore and compression, pins, rings and locks.
ACL Race Series Rod/Main Bearings

Top it all of with a powder coated valve cover from boneheadperformance.com

4. Install all the parts that I buy. Be sure to use plenty of lubricant and gasket sealer. Torque everything by the book (Chiltons Manual).

5. Buy an AWD transmission, rebuild it, and buy new internals for it also (I won't go into details)

6. Buy an AWD rolling chassis/shell with a clean exterior and interior for as cheap as possible.

Shop around though. Don't go straight to BrianCrower.com, the prices will kill you! All together I plan on spending $6,000 or slightly more and my hopes are 400HP or more and 25psi or more.

If anyone can think of something I haven't taken into consideration please let me know!
